Rose Announces 3 More Concert Events

Today, Jackson Browne announced his “Evening With” full band 2022 tour with dates running from June through September. The tour supports his GRAMMY-nominated album Downhill From Everywhere and includes a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center at The Heights onSaturday, June 11.

Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion, and personal politics. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007.

His debut album came out on David Geffen’s Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, four collections of live performances, two “best of” compilations, two DVDs and several single recordings. Jackson’s newest studio album, Downhill From Everywhere was released in July 2021 and GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album.

Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He’s a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org and a member of the Ocean advocacy group, Ocean Elders.

EMI Nashville’s Brothers Osborne announced today additional dates on their headlining “WE’RE NOT FOR EVERYONE” TOUR. The GRAMMY-nominated duo will stop in Huber Heights, OH for their first ever performance at Rose Music Center at The Heights on Friday, August 26.

Two sons from a working-class family, John and TJ Osborne grew up in a small, Maryland water town writing and playing songs for friends and family in their father’s shed. John moved to Nashville first to play in other bands and two years later, TJ joined him. It was then they formed Brothers Osborne as a duo that blends equal parts country and rock into one of the freshest, most identifiable sounds to come out of Nashville in recent years. The singer/songwriter siblings took home their fourth Vocal Duo of the Year trophy at the 55th Annual CMA Awards, in addition to being named ACM Duo of the Year twice. Overall Brothers Osborne have collected five CMA and five ACM trophies and stand as nine-time GRAMMY nominees – including vying for Best Country Album (Skeletons) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“Younger Me”) at the upcoming 64th GRAMMY Awards. Additionally, they received the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2019 recognizing artists whose innovative work is helping to shape the future of music.

Brothers Osborne released a deluxe edition of their third studio album, Skeletons, on January 21. Originally released in October 2020, Skeletons features their current single “I’m Not For Everyone,” as well as their Top 25 hit “All Night.” Included on Skeletons Deluxe, “Younger Me” was released in April as a response to the overwhelming support TJ received after sharing his personal story. John and TJ wrote and produced the track, with Kendell Marvel serving as an additional co-writer. Initially breaking through with their debut album Pawn Shop, the Gold Certified project featured three GRAMMY-nominated tracks including the 2X Platinum Certified No. 1 smash hit “Stay A Little Longer,” Top 10 Platinum Certified hit “It Ain’t My Fault,” and Gold Certified Top 25 hit “21 Summer.” Their sophomore album, Port Saint Joe, was nominated for Best Country Album at the 61st GRAMMY Awards and includes the Top 40 GRAMMY-nominated singles “Shoot Me Straight” as well as “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You).”

Earth, Wind & Fire are Coming to The Rose!

The legendary music group, Earth, Wind & Fire will head to Huber Heights, OH for their first ever performance at Rose Music Center at The Heights on Thursday, July 28.

Earth, Wind & Fire are a musical institution. 2020 marked a year-long celebration of their 50th anniversary in entertainment – one that has taken them all around the globe playing sold out concerts. In 2019, their contributions to arts and culture were acknowledged in Washington DC with the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors. The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery also awarded Earth, Wind & Fire with its Portrait of a Nation Prize.

The band has scored eight number one hits, have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and released 23 albums. Eight of those albums went Double Platinum and hit the Top 10, making them one of the best-selling artists of all time. They’ve won an impressive nine Grammy Awards including one for Lifetime Achievement (2012). In 2000, Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their lasting impact on popular music.

Boney James Release New Album and Announces Dayton Tour Stop

Four-time GRAMMY nominee and multi-platinum saxophonist Boney James has announced plans for a 2020 tour in support of his new album Solid, set to release on April 17 by Concord Records. Solid is Boney James’ seventeenth album and the follow-up to his smash 2017 release Honestly – his eleventh #1 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album. The Solid Tour 2020 will stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Saturday, June 27th.

“A solid relationship is when someone has your back and will stand by your side no matter what,” explains Boney James about the title of his new album. “Solid is a word that has a few meanings, but this one really resonated with me and became the theme of the record.”

Sometimes, inspiration is slow in coming, evasive and stubborn. Other times, if an artist is very fortunate, it simply flows, the music practically writing itself. That’s how Solid, the latest release from Boney James came to be. “This record really flowed at an unusually quick pace,” Boney says. “There was a lot of positive energy in making this music. Solid is a very upbeat record. As I was writing them, these songs put a smile on my face.”

All of Solid’s eleven tracks were produced and written or co-written by James. Three songs – “Full Effect,” “Tonic” and the title track—were built from licks played at sound-check by touring guitarist Kendall Gilder on the road in support of Honestly. “I said, hey, what’s that riff you’re playing?” James recalls, “And Kendall said, ‘that’s just something I’m messing around with.’ I got my iPhone and recorded them, then took it home and wrote the songs!”

Four other songs were initiated by longtime James collaborator, acclaimed writer/producer Jairus ‘J-Mo’ Mozee (Anderson Paak, Nicki Minaj, Anthony Hamilton). One of those, “Be Here,” was ultimately transformed into Solid’s Adult Urban single featuring special guest Kenny Lattimore, best known for his Top 10 R&B hit “For You.”

Says James, “We met at the Soul Train Awards twenty years ago and he said, ‘Some day we need to work together!’ As I was working on ‘Be Here’, I started to hear his voice in my head. I reached out to him and he wrote and recorded the lyrics. It’s such a romantic song and it really reinforced the theme of the record, strong and positive relationships.”

James crafted many of the song titles (“Fresh Air”, “On The Path”, “Tonic”) to play off this theme, “Similar to my last CD Honestly, this new music is a reaction to how stressful the world feels these days. Music is a respite, it’s always ‘solid’ and it never lets me down.”

Boney James’ personal relationship with music has never been anything but solid. Picking up the sax at age 10 in his native New Rochelle, New York, “I immediately loved it, and it pretty quickly became my favorite thing to do.” By the time he entered his teens, James was gigging with bands, and he turned pro at 19. He apprenticed as a sideman for artists like Morris Day, The Isley Brothers, Teena Marie and many others, touring and doing sessions for seven years before cutting his first solo album in 1992. The independently released Trust led immediately to a major label deal and a string of increasingly successful recordings and nonstop touring.

Now a four-time GRAMMY nominee with four RIAA Gold records and career sales topping three million units, James continues to defy musical genres; A two-time NAACP Award nominee, a Soul Train Award winner and named one of the Top 3 Billboard Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Decade.

James says he’s looking forward to heading out on the road and seeing how the Solid material evolves from night to night. “I love playing live, maybe more than I ever did. A lot of guys get tired of the traveling but it’s still a joy for me every time I go out there and play.”

It’s still a joy to his multitude of fans too. “I try to ‘be there’ for the people who are interested in my music,” says James, “to beSolid in that relationship and to not let anybody down. I often get great compliments from the people that come to my shows, that I ‘never disappoint’ them, and that’s very gratifying to me. That’s what I was trying to express with this title, that sense of character… to stand for something principled.”

ZZ Top To Return to The Rose

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top are hitting the road this summer following their widely successful 50th Anniversary Tour in 2019. The tour will include a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Wednesday, July 1st.

ZZ TOP a/k/a “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” lay undisputed claim to being the longest running major rock band with original personnel intact and, in 2004, the Texas trio was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, there are only three of them – Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill, Frank Beard — but it’s still a remarkable achievement that they’re still very much together after over 50 years of rock, blues, and boogie on the road and in the studio.  With the release of each of their albums the band has explored new ground in terms of both their sonic approach and the material they’ve recorded. ZZ TOP is the same but always changing.

The elements that keep ZZ TOP fresh, enduring and above the transitory fray can be summed up in the three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone, Taste and Tenacity.”  Of course, the three members of the band have done their utmost to do their part in assuring that ZZ TOP prevails.  As genuine roots musicians, the members of the band have few peers.  Billy is widely regarded as one of American finest blues guitarists working in the rock idiom.  His influences are both the originators of the form – Muddy Waters, B.B. Dusty has long had an affinity for rock’s origins; his earliest performances as a child included Elvis songs convincingly performed.  Not only is he a bass virtuoso in his own right, his vocal prowess is awe-inspiring.  He’s the lead voice you hear on “Tush” and his ferocious vocals are heard, to great effect, on his idol Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” these days, often a concert encore number and recorded by the band on Fandango! Good natured and diligent, Dusty is the rock-solid bottom of ZZ TOP.

Frank has also been keeping the beat in that great tradition.  As both a roots and progressive drummer, he has been acknowledged as key to the band’s powerful on-stage and in-studio presence. He and Dusty, in their early years together, served as Lightnin’ Hopkins’ rhythm section which, as Frank tells it, was a life changing experience.  Frank, despite his last name, is the guy in the band without a beard.  But when you’re with him, you’re with a Beard.  He’s a rockin’ paradox who provides the pulse of ZZ TOP.

ZZ TOP’s music is always instantly recognizable, eminently powerful, profoundly soulful and 100% Texas American in derivation.  The band’s support for the blues is unwavering both as interpreters of the music and preservers of its legacy.  It was ZZ TOP that celebrated “founding father” Muddy Waters by turning a piece of scrap timber than had fallen from his sharecropper’s shack into a beautiful guitar, dubbed the “Muddywood.”  This totem was sent on tour as a fundraising focus for The Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, Mississippi, site of Robert Johnson’s famed “Crossroads” encounter with the devil.  ZZ TOP’s support and link to the blues remains as rock solid as the music they continue to play.  They have sold millions of records over the course of their career, have been officially designated as Heroes of The State of Texas, have been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms and are true rock icons but, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done.  They’re real and they’re surreal and they’re ZZ TOP.

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Wheels of Soul Tour – a standout of the summer concert season – is returning next year with two performers who embody the best of the modern soul movement.  Wheels of Soul 2020 welcomes St. Paul and The Broken Bones, as well as TTB’s own talented keyboardist Gabe Dixon and his trio, to the sixth annual amphitheater run.  Kicking-off June 26th in TTB’s hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, the five-week tour will visit more than 20 cities across the country, including a stop in Dayton, OH at the Rose Music Center on July 12. Wheels of Soul will be a highlight of TTB’s 2020 itinerary, as the GRAMMY-winning group plans to reduce their touring load after 200+ days on the road each year.

Led by the husband and wife team of guitarist Derek Trucks and vocalist/guitarist Susan Tedeschi, the 12-member strong Tedeschi Trucks Band is acclaimed by critics and fans alike for their uncompromising commitment to bringing the highest level of musicianship to the stage.  TTB has meticulously curated their flagship multi-band summer tour with the same focus on putting together not just a spectacular triple bill, but a true musical collaboration among the three bands to create a unique and unparalleled evening of music.  Past guests have included Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Los Lobos, The Wood Brothers and The Marcus King Band among several others and earned the tour a reputation as “nothing short of exhilarating,” (Salon) and “nonstop excellence, virtuosity and musical community on all fronts.” (Chicago Blues Guide).

In what has become a tour tradition, fans can expect 2020’s installment of Wheels of Soul to deliver onstage guest sit-ins and unpredictable set lists with a large catalog of songs covering a wide range of musical tastes.  Gabe Dixon will pull double duty, taking the stage first with his trio, then joining his TTB bandmates to close out the evening.

Last year TTB performed over 65 songs during the summer trek, drawing on all four of its studio albums, including new fan favorites “I’m Gonna Be There” and “Shame,” from the 2019 releases Signs, and companion EP, High and Mighty.  Fans were also treated to surprising debuts like Elton John’s “Border Song,” Leon Russell’s “Stranger in a Strange Land,” and rarities like The Band’s “Don’t Do It”.

Formed in 2012, St. Paul and The Broken Bones has spent the last seven years touring the world, receiving critical acclaim for stirring and dynamic live performances. The Birmingham, Alabama-based rock ‘n’ roll/soul band has opened for The Rolling Stones, headlined two nights at Ryman Auditorium, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, Austin City Limits and twice on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and has issued an EP alongside three full-length albums, Half the City (2014) Sea of Noise (2016) and Young Sick Camellia (2018).  Led by the insightful lyrics and vocals of their electrifying front man Paul Janeway, St. Paul and The Broken Bones possess the unique ability to make you dance and shout while simultaneously making you think.

Nashville bred singer-songwriter and keyboardist Gabe Dixon has been penning honest and heartfelt tunes to a growing fan base since he first emerged in 1999.   His song “Live Again” was recently covered by Garth Brooks and many of his songs have been featured in films including The Proposal and TV shows such as Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy and Parks & Recreation.  Along with his own appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show, Dixon has performed with Paul McCartney, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Supertramp, Loggins & Messina, and O.A.R.  In 2019, he began touring with Tedeschi Trucks Band while also working on his new album, which is slated for release in 2020.

Vince Gill Coming to The Rose

One of the most popular singers in modern country music, Vince Gill will bring his top-notch songwriting, world-class guitar playing and warm, soaring tenor to Huber Heights, OH to perform at Rose Music Center at The Heights on Friday, August 23rd.  The show will feature support by Jedd Hughes.

Vince Gill achieved his big breakthrough in 1990 with “When I Call Your Name,” which won both the Country Music Association’s Single and Song of the Year awards as well as a Grammy. Gill has won 18 CMA Awards, including Song of the Year four times – making him the most-awarded artist in that category in CMA history. Since 1990, Gill has won 21 Grammy Awards. A wide-ranging songwriter, his compositions earned him entry into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005. The Academy of Country Music has conferred on Gill eight awards, including its prestigious Home Depot Humanitarian Award and the 2011 Career Achievement Award. Gill was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In August 2012, Gill was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is a member of the Grammy-winning band The Time Jumpers. Gill has produced albums for The Time Jumpers, LeAnn Rimes, Amy Grant and Ashley Monroe and has made guest appearances on more than 1000 albums, including those by Barbra Streisand, Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, George Jones and others. In 2017, Gill was invited to join the Eagles for a number of festival shows and will continue to join them onstage throughout 2018. Gill’s latest album is Down To My Last Bad Habit.

GRAMMY® Award-winning ‘80s pop icon Rick Springfield will hit the road in 2019 for the Best In Show Summer Tour. Featuring support by very special guests Eddie Money and Greg Kihn, the tour will include a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Saturday, September 7th.
