The Rose

It Will Be A Saturday Night Special with Lynyrd Skynyrd

February 27, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd will return to Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, OH on Saturday, June 3rd.

In a tragic tale oft-told, the Skynyrd story could have ended in a Mississippi swamp with the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Since then, the band has lost vital players in Billy Powell, Ean Evans, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Hughie Thomasson, yet here they are still hard-rocking nearly 40 years lately. The breed may be nearing extinction but Skynyrd is very much alive and ready to throw down.

With a catalog of over 60 albums and sales beyond 30 million worldwide, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remain a cultural icon that appeals to multiple generations. But far from resting on their laurels, any illusions that this may be a band at anything less than the height of its powers are quickly lost with the distorted fury of the fiery guitar licks that put to rest with the gritty triumphs that follow.

The band is tuned in to the tough times many Americans are going through, and they sing songs that might well help on that journey, or at least help let off some steam. “Skynyrd really thinks about how people are struggling and what’s goin’ on out here,” says Medlock. “We see it a lot, because we’re a working man and working woman’s band. We’ve got three generations under our belts, we know people have a tough time out there, and we share in that.”

For the passionate, longtime fans of the band, this is Skynyrd at the top of their game, complete with instantly memorable songs, more hooks than a tackle box, and a blistering three-guitar attack at full power.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD IS:
Gary Rossington- Guitar
Johnny Van Zant- Vocals
Rickey Medlock- Guitar
Mark “Sparky” Matejka- Guitar
Michael Cartellone- Drums
Johnny Colt – Bass
Peter Keys – Keyboards
Dale Krantz Rossington- Honkettes Backing Vocals
Carol Chase- Honkettes Backing Vocals

The Temptations & The Four Tops Coming To The Rose

February 21, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

The Temptations are teaming up with The Four Tops for a not-to-be-missed co-headline show at Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, OH on Friday, June 30th.

For more than fifty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world.

The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do The Things You Do” turned the guys into stars. An avalanche of hits followed, “My Girl”, “It’s Growing”, “Since I Lost My Baby”, “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, “Beauty Is only Skin Deep”, and “I Wish It Would Rain”, just to name a few.

The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style. Flair, flash and class. Millions of fans saw their Temptations as cultural heroes.

No matter the change in personnel, The Temptations remain true to The Temptations tradition. They survived the whims of fashion, whether disco or techno, and stuck to their guns. The current lineup consists of: Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Larry Braggs, Willie Greene Jr.

The Four Tops,  quartet, originally called the Four Aims, made their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them stars and their sixties track record on the label is indispensable to any retrospective of the decade.

Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across-the-board successes. “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” a no. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965, is one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers; “It’s The Same Old Song” (no. 2 R&B/no. 5 pop), no. 1 “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Standing In The Shadows Of Love” (no. 2 R&B/no. 6 pop) and “Bernadette” (no. 3 R&B/no. 4 pop). Other Tops hits include “Ask The Lonely,” “Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over),” “Something About You,” “You Keep Running Away,” “7-Rooms Of Gloom” and many more.

“The Four Tops will always be one of the biggest and the best groups ever. Their music is forever.” – Smokey Robinson

Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $57.00*, $50.00*, $40.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, February 24th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, and the Rose Music Center box office. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000. *Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.  Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice.

Pink Floyd Immersion World Tour Returns To The Rose

January 9, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

The hotly anticipated rock event of the year returns to Rose Music Center on Friday, May 19th! Brit Floyd will bring the music of Pink Floyd to life once again with its lavish new stage show, ‘Immersion World Tour 2017’. The spectacle of a Pink Floyd concert experience is truly recaptured in high-definition sound, and with a stunning million dollar light show and state of the art video design.
As well as performing the favourite moments from The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall and The Division Bell, Brit Floyd will also pay special tribute to the Animals album, in its 40th anniversary year, with a show stopping rendition of ‘Dogs’, as well as a host of other Pink Floyd musical gems.

The Brit Floyd show has truly become a phenomenon, widely regarded as the world’s greatest live tribute to Pink Floyd. Faithfully recreating the scale and pomp of the final 1994 Division Bell tour, complete with circle screen and multiple moving light design, lasers, inflatables and theatrics, a Brit Floyd show really is as close as fans will ever get to experiencing the magnificence of a Pink Floyd show live.

More than a tribute, it’s as good as they say. Believe the hype and don’t miss it! The new ‘Immersion’ show promises to be Brit Floyd’s most ambitious and best production yet.
Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $49.00*, $40.00*, $36.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, January 13th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets.  Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000. *Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.
