Did you know that the very first was held right here in Dayton in 1920 in a Triangle Park stadium that could hold 5000 people?
On Oct 3, 1920 4,000 people paid $1.75 for admission to watch the hometown Dayton Triangles defeat the Columbus Panhandles 14-0. The land for the park had been donated by Edward Deeds and Charles Kettering, the teams sponsors.
In 2005 The Pro Football Hall of Fame took part in a special ceremony recognizing the site of the National Football League’s first game. Jason Aikens, the Hall’s Collections Curator, was one of several featured speakers for the unveiling of a new Ohio Historical Society’s historical marker in Triangle Park in Dayton, Ohio.
