Warped Wing Brewing Company, headquartered in the heart of Downtown Dayton, Ohio, is excited to announce the launch of a Special Edition Trotwood Lager can in collaboration with PalMar Studios, producers of the upcoming Triangle Park Movie! Allen Farst, director of the film and founder of PalMar Studios, will be on-site at the Dayton Taproom for the official launch of the Triangle Park Trotwood Lager 6pks on Thursday, September 28th, beginning at 4pm for a meet & greet and autograph signing. Event attendees can also enter to win a pair of tickets to special movie preview night at the Neon in November. The tickets include a Q&A with Allen following the showing.

“We’re all about celebrating Dayton’s rich history,” said Nick Bowman, Co-Founder and VP of Sales &

Marketing at Warped Wing. “The narrative of Triangle Park hosting the inaugural NFL game in Dayton has always been something our team has wanted to commemorate, but the timing was never right until the Triangle Park Film team approached us with the idea of a collaboration. It’s a great honor that we have the opportunity to pay homage to the Dayton Triangles with this special edition Trotwood Lager can!”

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters this November and on Amazon Prime Thanksgiving Day – and will feature several stars from the football world including Troy Aikman, Ben Roethlisberger, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Dungy, Sean McVay, Joe Buck, Kirk Herbstreit and Cris Collinsworth. Additional details & a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie can be found at www.triangleparkmovie.com.

Copy on the can reads: “Sunday. October 3rd. 1920. Triangle Park. Dayton, O. The first-ever NFL game. 1 of 14 original professional football teams – The Dayton Triangles. Many interesting storylines existed with prohibition. An innovative town that had just risen back from a major flood. Women could vote. Professional football is born. Triangle Park celebrates an American football legacy. Relive the glory.”

Triangle Park Special Edition cans will hit distribution the week following the Taproom launch and will be available at select retailers while supplies last.

Tix Now On Sale for Triangle Park Movie

September 13, 2023 By Lisa Grigsby

In the fall of 2020, Centerville filmmaker Allen Farst held a press conference at Carillon Park, in front of the old locker room of the Dayton Triangles announcing he was making a movie about the first NFL football game played here in Dayton on October 3, 1920.

In an interview with Dayton Daily News reporter Don Thrasher Farst said, “to be honest, I can’t believe no one’s ever told the story about the first ever NFL football game. The thing is, you’d have to be from here to even know about it.”

Check out this behind the scenes video about Triangle Park.

The film will uncover the facts around this seminal game in over 100 years.  One of 14 original professional teams, the Dayton Triangles played on Sunday October 3rd, 1920 in front of 5,000 fans. Farst goes to the depths to connect family decedents of former players even finding never before seen football treasures while leaning on football greats such as Troy Aikman, Ben Roethlisberger, Eric Dickerson, Joe Buck, Cooper Kupp, Joe Theismann, Larry Fitzgerald, Cris Collinsworth, Tony Dungy and more to uncover this generational story.

In filming the reenactments of the game here in Dayton at Triangle Park, Farst used the helmets, pads and uniforms worn in the 2008 George Clooney comedy “Leatherheads.”

The film is now ready to be shared with our community and the first screening will be held on Oct 25th at The Plaza Theatre, in Miamisburg. Get Tickets here.

There will be more screening November 7th – 9th at the NEON Theater in Dayton. The worldwide release on digital platforms Amazon Prime & Apple TV will be on Thanksgiving Day.

$500,000 in improvements for Triangle Park

November 17, 2022 By Dayton937

The City of Dayton announces the newest investment of Dayton Recovery Plan funds following the Nov. 16 City Commission approval of a $500,000-plus contract for improvements at historic Triangle Park.

A $577,118 contract for installation of new infrastructure and amenities as well as demolition of obsolete facilities at the 61.5-acre park was awarded to Double Jay Construction, LLC. The Triangle Park upgrades consist of:

  • Installation of two new park shelters;
  • Removal of nine obsolete shelters and one restroom building;
  • Installation of new modular restrooms;
  • Installation of fitness equipment, picnic tables and pathways.

The project is scheduled for completion in July of 2023. The City of Dayton Department of Public Works will oversee the contract, which has a minority business enterprise participation rate of 25.19 percent.

The planned enhancements continue the ongoing improvement of Triangle Park in north Dayton, one of the largest City of Dayton-owned parks. In 2015, the historic Howell Field baseball facility was rededicated following renovations supported by the Cincinnati Reds (Howell Field has been home to many of Dayton’s finest college, high school and amateur baseball for more than 55 years). In July of 2022, an all-new, four-acre dog park was opened for use at Triangle Park. The park was also the site of the first-ever NFL game, played by the Dayton Triangles and the Columbus Panhandles in 1920.

About the Dayton Recovery Plan

The Dayton Recovery Plan is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to address the infrastructure, economic and equity issues that exist in the city by using a data-driven approach to analyze socio-economic, health, and demographic data to make informed funding decisions. These investments directly impact minority communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and long-standing economic and social inequities in Dayton. The Dayton Recovery Plan is our city’s innovative plan to utilize our $138 million share of the American Rescue Plan Act funds, the largest grant in Dayton’s history. The Triangle Park project is another piece of the Dayton Recovery Plan’s $55 million Improving Our Neighborhoods component. For a plan overview, go to daytonohio.gov/drp.

Local Filmmaker to make “Triangle Park” Feature Film on the NFL’s First-Ever Game

September 29, 2020 By Lisa Grigsby

Allen Farst, founder of Niche Productions, is ecstatic to announce today that work has begun on his new project, “Triangle Park,” an upcoming feature film that celebrates the centennial of the National Football League’s first-ever game, played in Dayton, Ohio.

The film will send spectators back in time to experience October 3, 1920, when the hometown Dayton Triangles kicked off league history with a 14-0 victory over the Columbus Panhandles. The contest was played in front of 5,000 fans at Dayton’s now-historic Triangle Park.

Farst plans to shed a light on the largely unknown story of how Dayton emerged as one of the 13 original NFL teams. It’s an enthralling journey that showcases how the city overcame the Great Dayton Flood and experienced an industrial boom just prior to the league getting under way. Football fan or not, moviegoers will be treated to a fascinating piece of Gem City history.

This is one of the greatest stories that needs to be told from the Dayton area. I’m excited to write and direct something that will represent the community the way it should be,” Farst said

Fans can go to triangleparkmovie.com and support the film. “We are hoping to be the All-time highest-funded project in Kickstarter history!” Farst said. “Hopefully, people will help us support Triangle Park in a big way.”

Triangle Park will be Licensing exclusive photos, programs, documents and film from the Pro Football Hall of Fame and archival footage from NFL Films.

Production will begin in 2021, with the movie scheduled to be released sometime in 2022.  A kickstarter campaign to help fund the film will be launched laster this week.  Join the email list for more info.

98th Anniversary of First NFL Game

October 3, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

Did you know that the very first was held right here in Dayton in 1920 in a Triangle Park stadium that could hold 5000 people?

On Oct 3, 1920 4,000 people paid $1.75 for admission to watch the hometown Dayton Triangles defeat the Columbus Panhandles 14-0. The land for the park had been donated by Edward Deeds and Charles Kettering, the teams sponsors.

In 2005 The Pro Football Hall of Fame took part in a special ceremony recognizing the site of the National Football League’s first game.  Jason Aikens, the Hall’s Collections Curator, was one of several featured speakers for the unveiling of a new Ohio Historical Society’s historical marker in Triangle Park in Dayton, Ohio.
