Kungfubbq has been one of the hottest pop up eatery’s in the last couple of years. Creating a cult like following for their meals, the father son duo would sell using facebook, creating huge demand and having a waiting list of over 5000 people patiently waiting for their chance to order.
With their continued success they created an app to make ordering easy, opened a food truck and can be seen around town partnering with other venues to make their meals easier to get.
There next big step was announced today on their social media:
“We are under contract to bring my Father’s Famous Peach Moonshine BBQ sauce to you 16oz bottles! The recipe has been perfected, and our partner is ready to bottle; now here is where we need your help. Hop on our app and preorder from the first batch ever made! You will receive a custom bottle and custom swag for helping us found our first sauce.”
They explain it will cost them $5709 to order their first batch of 2076 bottles, so they are offering you a chance to be a “Sauce Pioneer” by preordering from this first batch. As an early supporter you’ll receive a single print only, collectable Pioneer token. This token will display your order number, and will be redeemable for one free side of any sauce upon presenting it them on any visit, at any location. But there’s more- you’ll also get a KunfuBBQ LTD customized t-shirt and you name will be on the first bottle you order.

National French Fry Day is on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Estimates say Americans eat around 30 pounds of French fries per person each year.
Belgians call dibs on the origins of French fries, claiming it to be an invention of their people. According to a manuscript by Joseph Gerard, the residents of the Meuse Valley, located near Dinant in Belgium, consumed a lot of fish, since they lived near the river. During winters, when the rivers would freeze and fishing would become difficult, the idea to slice potatoes like fish fillets and fry them in hot fat was born.
But all credit does go to the French for popularizing frying foods and selling them in public on street carts called ‘frites,’ in the mid-1700s. Eventually, potatoes were cut in all sorts of shapes and fried. As to how French fries arrived in America, there are two versions of that story, too. The more popular and accepted fact is that Thomas Jefferson brought the dish to the U.S.A. While serving time as an ambassador, Jefferson spent a lot of time in France and went on to serve “potatoes served in the French manner” at a White House dinner in 1802.
The other theory is that World War I soldiers who were stationed around Dinant in Belgium took a liking to the local finger food known as ‘pommes frites’ and took the idea back with them. This is when French fries really took off and became mainstream in the U.S.

Hardee’s give its rewards program members free small fries with any purchase made through the app on July 13, that purchase is also going to ensure you get free fries for the rest of 2022. There will be a free small fry with purchase mobile offer in your rewards account that can be redeemed one time every day. That’s a lot of free fries, but make sure to order some on July 13 to get it.
Burger King is shaking things up by offering chicken fries instead of french fries for free on July 13. Just order at least $3 of other stuff through the app, and you’ll get the chicken nugget-like dippers for free. If you’re a member of the chain’s rewards program, you also get free fries once per week all year long.

La Embajada (The Embassy) began by hosting underground dinners for 10 guests in their home in 2014. Monica, who is the perfect host, using her skills a Spanish teacher and history buff to educate guests on the multi-course meals they were about to enjoy. Her husband, Jorge Fabergat, did most of the cooking from a food truck. They never disclosed their location until you reserved your seat. Menu’s were not published and guests arrived f0r this unique dining experience where they learned about Argentina’s culture as well as got great explanations about each dish served and the wines they were paired with. Guests were “sworn” to secrecy so as to not tell others too much, and take away some of the fun of the experience.
Their success with the underground dinners convinced them they needed to open a restaurant. They signed the contract last October on the property on St. Rt. 741 in Miami Township and have worked to create a building that felt like their living room. They will host a soft opening this Saturday, July 9th from 6-10pm, which just happens to be Argentina’s Independence Day. The soft opening menu will highlight the fast items like empanadas, steak, pasta dishes. They will then be closed Sunday and Monday and officially open on Tuesday, July 12th at 6pm.
Their cuisine is a mix between the heritage of Italy: pasta, pizza’s, osso buco and from the Spanish side they will offer a tapas menu (which in Argentina is called Picada), an array of small dishes to sample and some charcuterie boards. The Argentina dishes focus on beef due to all the cattle they raise and export.. Steaks, sausages, a very traditional bbq dish, which mixes different meats, pork and beef steaks, offal. There will also be lots of steak on the menu, Monica reminds us “We are the Texas of South America, along with Brazil!) Milanesas (fried breaded beef or chicken) pasta, pizzas, grilled sausages and more” will round out the menu.
Not all of these dishes will be available at the soft opening, Chef Jorge will start to introduce more of the menu like the paella and the bbq dishes as the kitchen settles in. A Liquor license application has been applied for, in the meantime they will be serving non-alcoholic beer and wine.
Monica has promised they’ll have 18 varieties of empanadas, which they debuted back in 2014 at the Oakwood Farmers Market. Empanadas are known as fast food in Argentina, can be fried or baked and sweet or savory. She began selling them in 2014 at the Oakwood Farmers market and she has become known as the go-to person to get them. In the restaurant they will also sell them frozen for you to bake, deep fry or air fry (her recommended method) them at home.
Expect to see Spanish seafood paella on the menu in the future, after the soft opening.

Named best bakery in 2021-Dayton Magazine and Best Wedding Cake in Dayton Wedding Magazine this family owned bakery is operated by three local women with deep ties to the Miami Valley. Each was a baker in their own right, and when the space in the Dots Shopping Center came open, they decided it was fate telling them to open the shop, so they did.
Jackie Fuller is a Bellbrook High School Alumni and current Bellbrook resident. She has lived in and around the Dayton region most of her life and was heavily involved in marching band and theater during her high school career. While attending Wright State University, she worked at a local bakery and has continued making personalized desserts for family and friends for the past 6 years. Jackie is a perfectionist at heart and loves advanced techniques such as gum paste and chocolate molding, as well as experimenting with new decorating techniques and recipes. She has even developed her own marshmallow fondant recipe; which is both beautiful and delicious to eat! When she is not baking or chasing after her son, she works part time at Miami Valley hospital as an RN on the labor and delivery unit.
Debby Fuller, mother-in-law to Jackie and another of the owners, has been a Bellbrook resident for more than twenty years. Her two sons are Bellbrook High School alumni. She has been decorating wedding and special occasion cakes, along with baking delicious brownies, cookies, and other goodies for twenty nine years. Debby was a stay at home mom and began decorating when her oldest son was six months old. What started as a desire to learn to make an icing rose, grew into a love for creating personalized cakes. Debby’s favorite part of creating cakes is getting to see how happy and pleased people are with the results. She firmly believes that the creations should taste as wonderful as they look.
Adonica Collins-Smith, mother of Jackie and the last of the three owners, currently lives in Fairborn and previously lived in Bellbrook for over five years. Adonica decorated cakes at a local bakery for more than eight years where she discovered and developed a passion for sculpting cakes. She brings passion to recreating everything from customers’ vehicles to magnificent animals in 3D creations. In addition to her daughter Jackie, Adonica also has a son who is currently attending Wright State University
It’s just these 3 ladies running the business and doing all the baking. They specialize in wedding cakes and incredible decorated desserts. They are also the ones you’ll meet at all the area wedding shows, were they sample their cake flavors for brides to be. You can also do a tasting at the shop. Graeter’s Ice Cream has released the third of five bonus flavors this season, and it’s sure to be a sweet one: Churro.
Available starting Monday in Graeter’s stores and online, Churro is a combination of cinnamon ice cream with crunchy churro pieces.
As with other bonus flavors, Churro is considered a limited time only flavor, and once it’s gone from stores and online, it’s retired for the year.
The first bonus flavor was Strawberry Cheesecake and the second was Frozen Hot Chocolate. A total of five bonus flavors total come out this season from Graeter’s.
