Court Declares Amnesty Program

From May 1st through the 12th, the Judges of the Montgomery County Municipal court has authorized an  Amnesty event. All persons with outstanding fines and court costs can pay 1/2 of those costs to the Clerk of the Courts and request the other 50% of costs to be waived during this period in May.

A New Steak & Seafood Dining Option

Located inside La Guadalupana super market on Burkhardt Road, the restaurant that was formerly Marisquería La Guadalupana has now morphed into Sonora Grill. A seafood and steak bar and grill, they’ve still kept some of their Mexican dishes on the menu, but they’ve added rib eyes, t-bones, and New York strips.

 They have octopus, calamari and shrimp dishes, with 3 ceviche options, oysters 4 ways, as well as pasta, salmon and many more options on the menu. They also frequently offer live music during the dinner hour. All meals are available for carry out. Online ordering is also available on their website.

Submarine House Celebrating 50 Years!

Today the Submarine House released a new Limited Time Menu bringing you locally sourced burgers with  some fun and fresh recipes! It wouldn’t be Sub House without a “Works” burger (pictured here), but there are some other great options as well!
They are also featuring a Buffalo Chicken Salad and Buffalo Chicken Pizza that highlight the blue cheese crumbles!
With 10 area locations, there’s sure to be a Submarine House near you!
Brothers Jason and Brody Danner were raised in the fast food business. Their dad, Gary, owned the first Submarine House franchise – a submarine shop that’s still located on Main Street in Dayton, Ohio.

In 1997, Jason opened his first Submarine House and in 1999, Brody opened his first Submarine House. Jason and Brody continued to work with and expand the Submarine House concept. They had always talked about what it would be like to have a Submarine House with a sports bar atmosphere. With both of them playing hockey for Ohio University and spending a few weekends in the bars there, they decided to pursue their dreams.

In March of 2006, they opened the very first Submarine House Bar and Grill, and immediately, it was a huge success. Jason and Brody have since taken over the Submarine House franchise.

The Danner brothers have just announced they will be bring their Annual Super Duper Cheesesteak Challenge – this year will be the 10th one! They are teaming up with Dayton Children’s Hospital again for our fundraising efforts this year! Come on out to any Submarine House starting May 1st to take on a 16″ Super Duper Cheesesteak in 16 minutes or less! Qualifying is from May 1st through July 23rd.
The finals event will be Saturday, August 12th at 5pm at our new Kettering location and will be rounded out with a free concert by BROTHERS in ARMS BAND !

Actor’s Theatre Fairborn presents The Odd Couple

“The Odd Couple,” written by Neil Simon and directed by Craig Smith, is coming to the Actor’s Theatre Fairborn stage the last two weekends in April. This classic show follows two friends who are suddenly single and suddenly roommates. The audience sees the messy and unkempt Oscar Madison and the compulsive and fastidious Felix Ungar struggle through their short-lived and unconventional coexistence.

Packard Museum’s Annual Spring Fling is Coming!

 America’s Packard Museum, located in Downtown Dayton has put together a jam packed agenda of events for The 2023 Packard Spring Fling, featuring Packard and Racing. Events will take place April 28-29 (Friday and Saturday) 2023.

A new exhibition, Pole Position Packards, includes many Packard and modern race cars. Friday’s Welcome Reception begins with an unveiling and book signing event. Saturday’s race car collection tour and pro-tips sessions are sponsored by Max Merritt Auto Parts, with a display for purchase or pick up (if you preorder). Saturday’s Gala Banquet spotlights our distinguished speaker, Price Cobb, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Jaguar in 1990. The Kim Kelly Orchestra guest stars renowned vocalist Dominic Inferrera, as we dance to Sounds of Sinatra.

Dayton Restaurant Owner Competes In Vegan Cooking Show

A new cooking show filmed in Columbus (Dayton film crew Hayden Parsons & Savannah Webb
were involved in the production)  where contestants will compete for the title of “top vegan” is set to premiere tonight. The competitive cooking reality series, simply dubbed Top Vegan, is be hosted by Chad Goodwin, owner of plant-based café 4th & State and vegan eatery Eden Burger, and guest judges from the Columbus food scene.

Eight vegan chefs and home cooks will compete in Top Vegan, which was filmed at Columbus State Community College culinary facility, Mitchell Hall. At the end of each episode, one contestant will be eliminated Top Chef-style. Competitions will see the contestants make vegan spins on classic dishes, paying homage to veganism’s roots and running a hectic service at 4th & State.

Dayton’s own, Rhea Adkins, Owner of Vegan It Iz Eats is one of the competitiors. Rhea’s passion for cooking began at the age of 4 years old. She is the owner of Vegan It Iz Eats, a restaurant space located at 2nd Street Market in Downtown Dayton. Rhea’s eclectic personality and authenticity are poured out in the food she serves and her love for people. Her desire to share delicious vegan food comes from a place of healing, hope, and restoration of food culture to expand palates beyond The Standard American Diet. She says her greatest honor is being the Mother of 2 wonderful children ages 18 and 2. She is also the author of the book “Plant-Based Jumpstart” along with many other titles. “Good food brings everyone together. It’s one of the societal barriers that are broken where everyone can come as they are and just be!” Find Rhea on Instagram!

Graeter’s Ice Cream Announces New Limited Edition Flavor

 Graeter’s Ice Cream has announced a new limited edition flavor to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Flying Pig Marathon. The Flying Pig Tracks flavor is packed with peanut butter cups and chocolate fudge, packaged into a playfully illustrated pint. This celebratory pint will be available for online ordering across the country at Graeters.com.

Graeter’s is releasing “Flying Pig TracksTM” for a limited run in all scoop shops on Friday, April 28th followed by select Kroger, Jungle Jim’s and Dorothy Lane stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas and online at Graeters.com.

“Staying true to our Cincinnati roots, it made sense to honor the 25th anniversary of the Flying Pig Marathon with an ice cream release,” shares Chip Graeter, 4th generation co-owner of Graeter’s. “Beyond runners and fans, we think Flying Pig Tracks is a flavor everyone will enjoy, and we’re happy to offer it in all of our shops throughout the Midwest.”

Graeter’s is also teaming up with Rookwood Pottery with a “Flying Pig” ice cream bowl. The bowl will be available for sale at $59.95 at the marathon registration event on Friday, May 5. The bowl is the fifth in Graeter’s series of collectible Rookwood bowls

The Flying Pig Marathon is a non-profit organization that hosts a variety of races and events throughout the year. The 25th Anniversary of the Flying Pig Marathon will be celebrated May 5-7.
