DLM’s Spring Fling Pastry & Food Show **Ticket Giveaway**

April 26, 2019 By Dayton Most Metro

It’s how we know spring is officially here- the Dorothy Lane Market Spring Fling Pastry & Food Show! On Thursday, May 2nd from 7-9pm at the Springboro store prepare to not only be delighted with each bite, but to meet the world class DLM talent who unleash their passion with a star-studded line-up at Spring Fling, in addition to making DLM shine daily with their talents!

Take your pick as to whether you’ll start with sweet or savory as you mingle from one station to the next at this open concept event. In addition to the 20+ pristine pastries, 15+ hors d’oeuvres, and a selection of wines and beers included with your ticket price, this year’s event also will include a flavored croissant station, galaxy cakes dripping with mirror glaze, a gourmet grilled cheese station featuring DLM Artisan Bread, as well as an artistically rendered sugar sculpture being built before your eyes!

DLM is also highlighting some of the talented Chefs and bakers that make all the treats they feature:

Carrie graduated with honors from The PA Institute of Culinary Arts in 1994, but her love for baking and cooking started with her Southern roots. DLM has been like a second home to Carrie as she’s been here for almost 20 years, spending the first 17 fueling her artistic side as a cake decorator. But the DLM Pâtisserie caught her eye after she saw how creative you can be while also learning the science behind perfecting beautiful pastries!

Born and raised in NYC, Tina grew up in an Italian-American household where the culture runs strong and the world revolves around food as she spent much time baking with her mother and grandmother. In 2002, she graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan with a degree in Pastry and Baking Arts. We love having Tina’s skills at play on the DLM Pâtisserie Team.

As the chef and culinary director for Dorothy Lane Market, you’ll see Chef Carrie’s menus brought to life at special DLM events, like our upcoming Spring Fling Pastry & Food Show, May 2! And thanks to her, your ticket to Spring Fling grants you access to not only world-class sweets and selection of wines, but a brilliant selection of hors d’oeuvre, too. Chef Carrie also helps shape the DLM Culinary Center’s class programming, shares her passion for food through her culinary classes, and aims to make the prepared foods found at DLM shine with the finest ingredients and a Flavor First mentality

Chef Amy decided to pursue her passion for pastry at The French Pastry School in Chicago. She now manages the DLM Pâtisserie and central bakery, which is responsible for making so much of what you find at the DLM Bakery!

Tickets for the Spring Fling Pastry & Food Show are $50 each and can be purchased at any DLM store on online here.

MostMetro.com Ticket Giveaway

We’ve got a pair of tickets we’ll be giving away to one lucky DMM reader!  Just leave a comment below and then share this article on your facebook or twitter page, and tag DaytonDining so we can see it and we’ll randomly pick a winner on Sunday!

Start Your Summer at Block Party in the ‘Burg

May 14, 2018 By LIbby Ballengee

If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the warm weather this weekend, may I recommend the first Block Party in the ‘Burg on Saturday, May 19th from 9am to 8pm at Star City Brewing Company in Miamisburg. There you’ll find great beer, live music, local vendors, food trucks and fun!

This event dovetails with Miamisburg’s Spring Fling, which kicks off with a parade at 9:45am. Starting at 9am, you can get a great parking spot to watch the festivities at Star City Brewing. They will have Ohio Hunger Force One and Shantz Express food trucks set up and running bright and early!

At noon, they’re kicking off live music in the field adjacent to the brewery. The music will continue throughout the day till 8pm. That’s right – 8 hours of non stop local original music! These are really cool bands too (see schedule below). Lucky Star Brewery and Star City Brewing Company will have beer for sale in the field, along a great selection of local vendors selling one-of-a-kind items and treats (see vendor list below)

Entry is free! So bring your lawn chair or a blanket, and plan on spending the whole day! A portion of the day’s proceeds will be donated towards the Miamisburg Viking Boosters.

Music Schedule

12-2pm Rich Reuter & Friends (featuring members of Great Northern String Band)
2-4pm Slippery Creek
4-6pm Cherry Lee & The Hot Rod Hounds
6-8pm The New Old-Fashioned

The New Old-Fashioned is among the bands performing at the first annual Block Party in the ‘Burg on May 19, 2018. PHOTO BY JENNIFER TAYLOR.

SMAG Dance Collective’s 10th Season Finale Comes to the Dayton Playhouse

April 28, 2014 By Dayton Most Metro Leave a Comment

SMAGSave the date! for SMAG Dance Collective’s 10th Anniversary Season Spring Fling concert which takes place on May 24h at Dayton Playhouse, 1301 E. Siebenthaler Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45414.

Show times are 4:00pm and 8:00pm.  Tickets can be purchased at www.smagdance.org and Brown Paper Tickets.

Spring Fling is purely devoted to the art of dance; challenging, physical, dynamic and insightful works are performed.  This 10th Anniversary Season’s Spring Fling Concert features the work of many of Dayton’s OWN, so #dateyourcity

SMAG’s 10th Anniversary Season Spring Fling features the work of nearly 10 choreographers, and SMAG is proud to present the work of the exceptionally artful, Rodney Brown, Founder/Director of the Brown Dance Project, the intensely moving work of fellow dancer and life-long friend, Shonna Hickman-Matlock, Director of DCDC2, and the work of Rodney Veal, for whom there are many accolades, and yet who is a humble man who lives art in a way that only he can and our community is blessed by his amazing gifts.

SMAG’s Spring Fling also serves as a showcase for emerging choreographers such as this season’s veteran company member and Assistant Director, Taiesha Green and first year company member, Rachelle Cartee.

This 10th Anniversary Season’s Spring Fling also features the work of Deniz and Renee McClendon.  These women are long time contributors to the body of work that is dance in Dayton, Ohio, and SMAG Dance Collective is excited to share the stage with these choreographers and their dancers.

Spring Fling is very much representative of the company’s mission which is to provide opportunity for dancers and choreographers, educate and entertain diverse audiences, and to bridge the gap between artists, arts organizations and the community.

SMAG Dance Collective extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the company’s Spring Fling power2give campaign and also to Culture Works!

SMAG’s programming is made possible by grant funding from the Ohio Arts Council, private donors, in kind donations from volunteers and local businesses, and most recently, with the help of Culture Works’ power2give launch.

SMAG Dance Collective is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
