From Hollywood to Home Plate: Local Photographer’s Work On Exhibit

The Centerville Arts Commission is pleased to announce the Centerville Art Gallery will feature the work of local photographer Nick Falzerano throughout the month of April. The exhibit may be viewed 24 hours a day at the Centerville Police Department, 155 West Spring Valley Road.

Falzerano is a seasoned photographer based in Bellbrook, Ohio, where he operates Nicholas Studios. A Bellbrook High School and University of Dayton alumnus, Falzerano initially honed his craft in Los Angeles, capturing images of celebrities such as Janet Jackson, Chris Farley, Ariana Grande and more.

Upon returning to his hometown, he established Nicholas Studios, focusing on high school yearbook and wedding photography, as well as covering local sports events. His work has been featured in national outlets, including a two-page Sports Illustrated spread,

The Centerville Arts Commission presents a gallery featuring the work of local artists. The exhibit rotates every month and features pieces from local and national artists. The Centerville Art Gallery is located in the lobby of the Centerville Police Headquarters at 155 W. Spring Valley Road. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Centerville Arts Commission presents “Moving Expressions” featuring DCDC2

The Centerville Arts Commission presents “Moving Expressions” at the Centerville High School Central Theater on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. featuring DCDC2. The Central Theater is located at 500 East Franklin Street. The event is free and open to the public and tickets are not needed.

 

 

DCDC2 is the pre-professional ensemble for the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. “Moving Expressions” will feature a sampler of contemporary dance works from its dance collection created by its resident choreographers. The program includes a moving tribute to the icon of civil rights, soul-stirring gospel expressions, lighthearted, energetic dances to an introspective journey within. Founded in 1975, by Founder Jeraldyne Blunden, DCDC2 – the pre-professional ensemble for the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) is a culturally diverse ensemble committed to arts integrated education, community engagement and university partnerships, as well as the professional development of college graduates and undergraduates preparing for professional careers.

DCDC2 provides a platform for emerging performers, teachers, and choreographers to hone their technical skills and showcase their artistic talent. DCDC2 has cultivated dance artists for DCDC’ professional company as well as for other national and international dance companies and productions.

Centerville Residents Wanted To Serve on Arts Commission!

arts_comm_logoThe Centerville Arts Commission is a volunteer organization of up to 15 members, appointed by City Council, whose mission is to involve the citizens of the Centerville area in the visual and performing arts.  The goal of the Commission is to involve the entire community in the arts and, where possible, provide free arts experiences to everyone.

Along with Centerville’s signature event, the Summer Concert Series, the Arts Commission sponsors a variety of programs and events throughout the year including Art at the Trace to be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Applicants must reside within the City of Centerville. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by members of the Centerville City Council. The terms are three years in length. Members meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and committee meetings are scheduled as needed.

Centerville’s Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Sunday

Centerville Arts Commission’s kicks off the FREE Summer Concert Series  this Sunday night with a performance by Terry Lee Goffee, the ultimate Johnny Cash tribute on Sunday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Stubbs Park Amphitheater.

Terry Lee will have you spellbound with its authenticity to the Man In Black. “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash,” is how Terry Lee Goffee, of Wellington, Ohio begins his show. With his look and his sound, he doesn’t just impersonate Johnny Cash, he becomes him. In this two-hour concert, you’ll hear 34 songs including Cash’s classics, “A Boy Named Sue”, “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, “I Walk The Line”, “Ring Of Fire”, “Folsom Prison Blues”, and more.  Terry Lee’s Tribute to Johnny Cash has taken him all across the US, Canada, Ireland and the UK.  In 2009 he was selected to provide the moves for the Johnny Cash character in Guitar Hero 5.

Providing over 20 years of free public concerts, the 2013 Summer Concert Series brings talented musicians and performers to the Stubbs Park Amphitheater stage all summer long. As always, admission is free and open to the

cvillepizza.jpgpublic. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.   If the weather is questionable, call the concert hotline at (937)433-7155 for updates. Centerville Pizza & BBQ operates a concession stand that opens at 6pm.

Golf Club Hosts Local Visual Arts Showcase

art@thetraceThe Fifth Annual Art at the Trace, sponsored by the Centerville Arts Commission will be held on February 13 at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. “Art at the Trace is a well known and respected event in our community,” said Jim Teske, Centerville Arts Commissioner. “We are bringing back some favorites but have also made it a point to showcase some talent that may not have been seen before. When you mix food, talented artists, great music and Valentine’s weekend all in a warm and cheerful community you can expect something great,” he said.

The event will feature hundreds of works of fine art in a variety of mediums from paintings, photography, sculptures, jewelry, and mixed media on display for viewing and purchase.  Local artist, Nancy Fisher, is the Art at the Trace featured artist who has donated an original piece of artwork to be raffled off at the event. All ticket holders will be entered in the drawing and must be present to win.

Guests will enjoy live music provided by the James Murrell Trio and Rob Turner, along with an assortment of delicious, gourmet appetizers and desserts. A cash bar will be available offering fine wines, beers, and cocktails. The Golf Club at Yankee Trace will also be providing a cash tapas bar paired with wine selections for a nominal fee. Attend and you’ll learn how to choose wine that actually enhances the food’s taste while you stroll the gallery of fine art.

Tickets for Art at the Trace are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Cash or check is accepted in advance and cash, check, or credit card will be accepted at the door. The event runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace, 10000 Yankee Street in Centerville.
