Little Exchange Hosts Bourbon Tasting & Raffle

August 23, 2021 By Dayton937

The Little Exchange Fine Gifts is a nonprofit boutique at 45 Park Ave. in Oakwood that has been operating since 1950.   Staffed by almost 90 volunteers, the shop has donated nearly $1.7 million to Dayton Children’s Hospital over its 70+ years of existence. The Little Exchange is known for perfect bridal and baby gifts, infant clothing, unique décor for the home, and men’s and women’s gifts for all occasions. The shop also offers complimentary gift wrap and free local delivery. Shop hours are Monday – Friday from 10am – 5pm and Saturday from 10am – 3pm.

The Little Exchange is doing a bourbon raffle to help raise additional funds for Dayton Children’s.  The winner will walk away with eight bottles of hard to find Blanton’s Bourbon.   Each bottle top is mounted with a horse and jockey in a progressive horse race. They come in 8 different varieties that, when arranged in succession, spell out BLANTON’S. You may purchase your $50 ticket for a chance to win 8 bottle’s of Blanton’s online or at the shop.

Just prior to drawing the winner on September 16th, at 5:30pm, The Little Exchange will host a bourbon tasting with 4 whiskeys to taste, set up in stations around the shop. The tasting list is not public yet, but we were told that Blanton’s will not be one of the options.  There is no charge for this tasting, but an RSVP is requested at 937-299-1561.  At the conclusion of the tasting the winner will be drawn on at 7pm.

Dayton Children’s Launches Kids Express

January 8, 2019 By Dayton Most Metro

innovative new concept for when “Dr. Mom” needs a second opinion on the small stuff

Dayton Children’s Hospital will open Kids Express in Springboro on Wed, Jan 9th – the trial of a new concept in pediatric-focused health care. It combines the convenience of a retail clinic approach and online scheduling with the pediatric expertise of a specially trained nurse practitioner. While there are a lot of retail clinics for adults, this is the only one in Ohio with care that is just right for kids and focused on their unique needs.

“We know that parents are busy and need options,” says Deborah Feldman, president and CEO of Dayton Children’s. “We also know that when their child gets sick, many times they already have a pretty good idea what is wrong. We wanted to give them an option for care that they can trust is kid-focused but is also easy and fast.”

Kids Express is located at 662 North Main Street in Springboro, Ohio, to take care of low-acuity conditions. If their pediatrician’s office is full or closed, parents can choose Kids Express. Similar to making an appointment at a pediatrician’s office, parents should save their spot online to make sure their visit is at a convenient time for them and to reduce the amount of time spent in the waiting room. When they arrive at Kids Express, a pediatric trained nurse practitioner will assess and treat their illness or injury.

Kids Express sees children ages 6 weeks to 18 years old, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm seven days a week.  Parents can bring their children in for everyday issues such as:

  • Seasonal allergies
  • Sinus infection
  • Colds
  • Flu
  • Sore/strep throats
  • Earaches and ear infections
  • Minor cuts and bruises (no stitches)
  • Pink eye
  • Rashes/poison ivy/oak
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vomiting, diarrhea
  • Bug bites/stings
  • Splinter removal
  • Ear wax removal
  • Lice
  • Impetigo
  • Mononucleosis
