Music and food from around the globe are coming to Dayton’s front porch this Friday, June 7, during the new festival Passport to MetroParks, held from 6 to 10 PM at RiverScape MetroPark.
Live music, food, dancing, family activities and more will be part of the free event, a sneak peek of upcoming cultural festivals.
Musicians and dancers representing the Dayton Celtic Festival, Hispanic Heritage Festival, Dayton African American Cultural Festival and Germanfest Picnic will perform on the RiverScape Pavilion stage. The entertainment schedule is:
6 PM: The Sauer Brats
7 PM: The Celtic Academy of Irish Dance
7:30 PM: The McGovern Ceili Dancers
8 PM: Kuumba Drama Drum and Dance
9 PM: Rondalla Puerto Rico
From 6 to 8 PM, visit more than a dozen vendor booths hosting games and activities that feature the upcoming festivals and the variety of recreation, education, conservation and volunteer programs Five Rivers MetroParks offers. Activities include:
- Meet MetroParks’ live animal ambassadors
- Participate in such games as a lifejacket relay and a veggie relay
- Learn more about upcoming events and things to do in each MetroPark
- Ask MetroParks staff and volunteer experts questions sustainable living, gardening, youth programs and more
- Register for upcoming programs
Complete at least seven activities to have a Passport to MetroParks stamped — and enter to win one of three exclusive outdoor adventures. A Five Rivers MetroParks staff expert will lead the winners and three of their friends or family members on an outdoor experience, including a chance to learn how to mountain bike, fly fish, camp, take a nature hike or ride horseback.
Throughout the event from 6 to 10 PM, Mexican, Spanish, Asian, German and Southern cuisine will be available from the food truck lineup: Pa’s Pork, DFish DChicken, El Meson, Kleinfelder Hots & Brats and Billie Gold Bubble Tea.
