Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken Brings Back Spicy Bourbon Dippers

October 5, 2021 By Dayton937

Spicy Bourbon Dippers are back on the menu at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken for a limited time.

Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken is bringing back its Famous Fan favorite Spicy Bourbon Dippers at 45 of the brand’s locations. The popular menu offering was introduced for the first time last year as an innovation of one of Lee’s longtime franchisees.

“We appreciate our creative thinking operators who can take proven menu items and develop new and different flavor pairings,” says Lee’s CEO Ryan Weaver. “Who better than local franchisees to know what established products appeal to their customers? While this product was initially ideated in the Dayton market, we saw last year that it had much broader market appeal. Tossing our already delicious Spicy Jumbo Dippers, which are big bites of our famous boneless chicken, in this Kickin’ Bourbon Sauce with a side of cool ranch for dipping is the perfect fall pairing no matter where you live and enjoy your Lee’s.”

Spicy Bourbon Dippers take Lee’s signature menu item of Spicy Jumbo Dippers and toss them in a spicy bourbon barbeque sauce with a side of ranch for dipping. Lee’s dippers are always freshly marinated in a special blend of seasonings, then hand breaded twice.

All Lee’s Dippers are made with big bites of boneless chicken that are freshly marinated in a special blend of seasonings, then hand breaded twice before hitting the fryer.

You can find Spicy Bourbon Dippers at 45 participating Lee’s locations through November 14, 2021.

Local Podcast Focuses on the Healing Journey

October 3, 2021 By Dayton937

A local podcast is gaining traction with their fully funded Kickstarter campaign and their first season nearing 1000 downloads. Tears, Tides, and Transformation: A Podcast About Healing is hosted by KeAnna Daniels and Bridget Flaherty, women brought together by friendship and a shared passion for real conversations and personal growth. Focusing on the healing journey with tools, tips, and triumph, Ke and Bridget are spreading hope through vulnerability.

Their diverse backgrounds and mutual respect has created a safe place for dialogue about the elephant in the room. Tears, Tides, and Transformation has already distinguished itself as a safe place for women to talk about and listen to stories about overcoming abuse, generational trauma, addiction, mental illness, and life challenges.

Bridget and KeAnna

KeAnna and Bridget interview women who are willing to vulnerably share their experiences with healing and mental health. The hosts then reflect on what they learned from the interview. Each episode provides tips and best practices for tackling the real challenges that are a part of all of our lives.

Here is what people are saying:

“I listened and I cried happy tears because I have a beautiful soul sister who has given me space to be my true self, and continues to love me in spite of my short-comings and flaws. I also recognized my growth and its beautiful to look back and see where I’ve come from” – NaAsiaha Simon, podcast guest

“Just listened to the latest episode of your podcast and I literally felt like I could just sit in Vicki’s lap and cry for an hour. I felt so seen and understood. Thank you for doing this work. I pray its reach is expansive and that it will touch many more lives.” – Nicole McKoy, podcast guest and listener

The podcast is just the beginning. KeAnna and Bridget have a vision of a thriving community of women supporting women on the healing journey including community events, online forum conversations, videos, and written publications.  Their first season can be heard on Apple, Google, Spotify, and Audible.

For more information about hosts, to join the online community, or to sponsor the podcast, head to their website: www.tearstidesandtransformation.com

WYSO Hires New Full-Time Digital Editor

October 2, 2021 By Dayton937

With the addition of Desmond Winton-Finklea to its news team, WYSO 91.3 FM has its first full-time staffer focused solely on building the station’s online presence.

Winton-Finklea will be the daily editorial manager and producer of WYSO’s digital communications platforms, including its websites, apps, streams, emails and social media accounts. He also will support the music department and the Center for Community Voices, track and analyze digital metrics, and work with department directors to create and execute the organization’s digital strategy.

This position is a key element in the growth of WYSO’s newsroom, which is on track to triple in size in under two years, says Jason Saul, WYSO’s director of news and programming. “Bringing in another full-time editor will allow us to innovate and offer even more news on different platforms. As media channels and platforms keep changing, we’re also continuously changing to meet people where they are.”

Winton-Finklea has been a journalist and a multimedia production professional for nearly 10 years. With a bachelor’s degree in communication from Central State University and an associate’s degree in recording audio engineering and video production, he has worked for Dayton-area television stations as a breaking news reporter and a producer of video, audio and digital content.

“Desmond is a great local news talent,” Saul says. “We are excited to introduce him to the world of public radio. With all of his experience, abilities and amazing energy, he will help us bring even more breaking and in-depth news to our digital channels and give us the capacity to launch additional news products soon, too.”

ABOUT WYSO

Yellow Springs, Ohio-based WYSO 91.3 FM is the NPR member station for the Miami Valley. With 80,000 listeners, it reaches much of southwest Ohio and is rapidly growing its membership base. It plays a dynamic mix of music (over 40 hours a week) and delivers robust daily news and project reporting, through its flagship network news programs and locally produced content. 4 Course Wine Dinner at Sueño

September 30, 2021 By Dayton937

Sommelier Lauren Gay

On Sunday, October 3rd, join Sueño for a 4 course dinner expertly paired by Sommelier Lauren Gay with 5 wines from Mi Terruño. Traveling over 5,000 miles from Argentina to Ohio, Mi Terruño’s owner Gabriel Baigorria will be leading the event.

The Baigorria family has been involved in Mendoza’s wine industry since 1960; first with the purchase of their own vineyards and later, in 2004, with their own winery. Located in the picturesque town of San Roque, Maipu, the winery was retrofitted from an old glass tile factory – combining new technology with traditional wine making techniques. Mi Terruño, meaning “my terroir”, is managed by the brother-sister duo of Gabriel Baigorria and winemaker, Maria Eugenia Baigorria. Under Maria Eugenia’s guidance the Mi Terruño wines are driven by the unique expression of their own terroir and embodies their most important treasure, the grapes.

The Baigorria family

Chef Jorge Guzman and Chef Rico Thompson are excited to offer the following meal, inspired by and specially crafted to pair with Gabriel’s wines:

Welcome and amuse bouche:
‘Expresión’ Brut sparkling served with tamale (masa panisse, caviar, cilantro)

First:
‘Uvas’ unoaked Chardonnay with crudo (hamachi, epazote crema, tangerine, cashew)

Second:
‘Expresión’ Cabernet Franc and Mayacaba Malbec with borrego (herb roasted lamb shoulder, frijoles blancos, hoja santa chimichurri)

Dessert:
Lunfa Vermú with arroz con leche (rice pudding, cherries in vermouth, pistachio, toasted coconut)

Welcome is from 4pm to 4:30. Chef Rico and Gabriel will speak from 4:30 to 5:00. Dinner will last from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Tickets are $119 per person and can be reserved online.  Bottles will be available for purchase after the event. Limited seats available.
