Taco Bell Enchirito is Back For A Limited Time

November 20, 2022 By Dayton937

Discontinued in 2013, the Enchirito features a soft flour tortilla, loaded with seasoned beef, beans and diced onions all rolled up and smothered with its classic red sauce before being topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese.

The Enchirito makes its way back after rewards members voted overwhelmingly in favor of binging back the classic over the Double Decker Taco earlier this fall.

You can find the Enchirito at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide for a suggested price of $3.79 through November 30, 2022.

Taco Bell has also launched 7-Layer Nacho Fries. The seven layers include seasoned beef, chipotle sauce, black beans, sour cream, tomatoes, cheese, nacho cheese sauce, and guacamole. That’s actually 8 layers, but who’s going to argue?  The same dish is also available in a vegetarian version as well as a
7-Layer Nacho Fries Burrito, which is essentially everything in the 7-Layer Nacho Fries, in a warm flour tortilla.

Taco Bell Eliminating Nine Menu Items

September 16, 2019 By Dayton Most Metro

Taco Bell has decided to give it’s menu a fall makeover.  Adding new combo’s and removing nine items from their menu.  Gregg Rapp, a menu engineering consultant say “when it comes to deciding what items to remove, menu engineers start by getting rid of the menu items that are unpopular and less profitable.”

Even though removed items are usually not bestsellers, Rapp said that there will always be someone who complains about the changed menu. But there’s a simple trick to waylay angry customers.

“What we typically do is keep it in the kitchen for 60 days or so, so we’ll have it available, but then the next time the person comes in, they’ll have forgotten about it,” he said.

The new menu boards are designed to make it quicker and easier for guests to order.  They’ve  updated the craveable assortments that includes best-sellers and updated combo options, so be sure and check the # before you order.

The items that will be going away include:

  • Beefy Mini Quesadilla
  • Chips & Salsa
  • Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller
  • Double Decker® Taco
  • Cool Ranch & Fiery Doritos® Locos Tacos
  • Double Tostada
  • Power Menu Burrito
  • XXL Grilled Stuft Burrito

Food Adventures Have Noticed Changes at Taco Bell

July 10, 2019 By Dayton937 6 Comments

They don’t stuff tacos like they used to …

Okay, so 95 out of 100 articles we feature locally owned eateries.  Also, very rarely will we publish a negative slant in our stories on the Food Adventures Blog.  Today, however, we have taken notice of a situation, that has caused the Big Ragu some frustration.

In  the land of fast food, there was a fave that set itself apart.  But now it seems after a slow slide over the past 10 years, this old standby, is now a new spot of pitfalls and disappointments.  Has anyone else notice this change or is it us?

So we ask ….

Familiar site – you could listen to a Beatles album by the time you get to the pay window.

What has happened to Taco Bell ?

Back in the 80’s and the 90’s the successful chain was using the 59, 79 and 99 cent menus to the delight of fans.  There was the “Yoquero Taco Bell” Bell Dog, and the “Run for the border” campaign highlighting the late hours.  There was decent food and decent service late into the night, sometimes 4am !

They changed the burrito wrapper for the better, making it thicker and less breakable.  They came up with new menu ideas, maybe this is where the downfall started.  Maybe they offer too many menu items to crank things out like they used to….

Don’t get us wrong, Taco Bell still shows some magic.  The Big Ragu still absolutely loves the Mexican Pizza (although they stopped adding black olives on top), and we love the Nacho Bell Grande.  We applaud them for bringing back the nacho cheese fries.  But there are lot of changes that we have noticed locally over the past 10 years.  Is it just us?  Do other fast foodies in Dayton notice this around town?

This was the actual filling in our burrito supreme -mostly tortilla

— Smaller fillings:  Have you noticed they don’t stuff a taco or a burrito like they used to?  Every once in a while you will get an employee in the back that will be making some nice sized burritos and tacos, but for the most part they are partially stuffed and lots of times weighed.

— Slower Drive Thru Service: They used to be great on this, but now we have noticed you can watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory while waiting on your drive thru order.

— Poor Service:  No friendly greet, no thank you’s and lots of times

The Mexican PIzza is still a winner

the order is wrong. But the worst. and we mean ABSOLUTE WORST thing they do is close 15 minutes early and the employees hide inside and won’t come to the window because they know they are in the wrong.  They also close much earlier now than they have in years past, especially during winter months.

Is it just us, or have you noticed the change as well??  And if you ask for hot sauce they now give you 2 packets.  If you ask for 8 sauces they will give you 4.  We don’t know when this started but it seems they purposely short us now on sauces.

Can you spare a sauce?

Yeah we know, we took a weekly article to write about a chain.  Some of you may care, some may not, we just felt it worth mentioning since we think the decline is noticeable.

Suggestion:

One thing we suggest they do is bring back a simple menu item – BRING BACK THE BELLBEEFER.. This was Taco Bell’s version of a burger.  It was pretty much a sloppy joe with taco meat on a bun.  No frills, easy and quick to serve.

WE ASKED LOCAL EMPLOYEES:

Bring Back the Bellburger

Since this isn’t our first rodeo at the drive thru window – over the past 5 years, we have asked the employees at the window what the problem has been. Of the various local Taco Bells they all say the same thing. “We are greatly understaffed and it is hard to find good workers.”

It sounds like they are short on workers, but trying to address the problem with no success do to the work force,

At any rate, until they fix it , we will be in that long drive thru line on occasion for a Mexican Pizza or Nacho Bell Grande.

Kudos for adding Nacho Fries to the menu

But we are in line there much less these days.. cutting our visits by about 75%.  Until then, here is hoping they make a change in size of servings, customer service, and drive thru times.  Is it too much to ask for that and some hot sauce?

PLEASE COMMENT BELOW AND TELL US WHAT YOU THINK….

Food Adventures is a local food blog with a weekly article here on Dayton Most Metro.  We also have a great presence on Facebook.

Wow..this bean burrito is lacking the goods

Look at this taco stuffing – are you kidding me ?

Here is a bean burrito – you can see that it is mostly tortilla

French Toast Breakfast Taco Trial – Only in Dayton

April 11, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

Taco Bell is trying out French toast as a breakfast taco shell with the recently launched test of the new French Toast Chalupa –  available only here in Dayton.

Taco Bell describes the shell as “fluffy and cinnamony.” The French Toast Chalupa comes filled with scrambled eggs, a choice of bacon or sausage crumbles and a side of syrup and is selling for $2.49 each.   Instead of a shell, it has a taco-shaped piece of French toast which is basically a soft flatbread (AKA their gordita shell) shell that’s been deep fried.

The test item marks the latest in a long line of attempts by Taco Bell at making other foods into a taco shell. There was the  Waffle taco shell, the fried chicken shell, a croissant shell, a quesadilla shell, and a biscuit shell.  We’ll have to see if this one is a winner.  Let us know in the comments below if you try it and what you think!

Taco Bell Fries Have Arrived

January 27, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

Lousville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands has finally brought fries to their Taco Bell chain. In what they claim is “the the most-anticipated menu item release of the year” these Mexican fries arrived at the fast foot eatery this past week.

So in the name of research, I ran for the border to try them, ok not really the border, but the Taco Bell on St. Rt 741.   The $1 Nacho Fries are dusted with what Taco Bell has dubbed, Mexican seasoning. The regular $1 order of fries comes with a side of Taco Bell’s signature cheese sauce for dipping.

You also have the option to  upgrade your Nacho Fries to Supreme for $2.49 or Bell Grande for $3.49, where they’ll be topped with  beef, nacho cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo.  As you can see from the picture of my “supreme” order the pico de gallo was just chopped tomatoes.

The best deal is the Nacho Fry box for $5 which comes with the new nacho fries, a cheesy Gordita Crunch, a Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco and a medium drink.

Taco Bell says the fries will be available through March.

Taco Bell Adds French Fries To The Menu

January 3, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

On Wednesday, the Tex-Mex chain announced that US customers will soon be able to order Nacho Fries for just $1. Taco Bell has long served fries at international stores in countries like the United Kingdom, Korea, and Japan. The chain, owned by Yum Brands, also tested fries last spring in select California and West Virginia locations.

According to Taco Bell, the fries will have “a bold Mexican seasoning” and be served with a “warm Nacho Cheese dipping sauce” for just $1.  You can also upgrade your fries to  “Supreme” — adding pico de gallo, beef and sour cream on top — for $2.49 or “Bell Grande” — all the same toppings as the “Supreme,” just larger — for $3.49.

In addition, Taco Bell will be including this new menu item in its $5 box, which comes with the fries, a Doritos Locos taco, a Cheesy Gordita Crunch and a medium drink.

Taco Bell’s fries will be available  on Thursday, Jan. 25, but they won’t stay on menus forever. In a press release, Taco Bell’s said they’re available for a “limited time,” but haven’t specified just how limited that frame is.

Taco Bell’s Fried Chicken Taco Shell Debuts Jan 26

January 12, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

Taco Bell is coming un-shelled with its latest food innovation, coming in the form of the first taco shell made entirely of marinated, all-white crispy chicken. The Naked Chicken Chalupa will bare all nationwide on January 26, clucking the trend of traditional fried chicken.

“Something this delicious yet different is bound to ruffle some feathers; some might even cluck their tongues at it,” said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Taco Bell Corp. “However, we feel confident that once our fans get a taste of the Naked Chicken Chalupa they are going to understand exactly why this is our next big, fun and craveable innovation, following in the footsteps of the Doritos Locos Tacos five years ago and the Quesalupa just last year.”

The shell is made with four ounces of marinated, all-white-meat, antibiotic-free* chicken kicked up with bold Mexican spices and seasoning, and is packed with fresh shredded lettuce, diced ripe tomatoes, cheddar cheese and creamy avocado ranch. The mouthwatering combination brings a fresh, crisp flavor with a kick of spice to the menu like never before.

The Naked Chicken Chalupa saw buzzworthy tests in select markets in both 2015 (Bakersfield, CA) and 2016 (Kansas City, MO), and will now make its full reveal nationwide. Crisped to perfection to deliver a solid crunch for just $2.99, it will also be featured in a $5 Box including a Naked Chicken Chalupa, Doritos® Locos Taco, Crunchy Taco and Medium Drink.

Fans are encouraged to follow along leading into the nationwide launch of the Naked Chicken Chalupa using the hashtag #NakedChickenChalupa. Further details, and some rebellious surprises, will be shared as January 26 approaches.
