Cake Hope & Love Launches Community Cake Co-op

November 7, 2025 By Dayton937

Cake Hope & Love believes everyone deserves something sweet—especially during tough times.
Owner Shannon Teague shared,  “the government shutdown affecting so many of our neighbors, we want to help bring a little comfort and joy where it’s needed most. So they are  launching a Community Cake Co-op, a way for our customers to pay kindness forward.”
Here’s how it works:
You can donate any amount—$10, $20, $50, or more—and they’ll use 100% of those funds to bake and gift cakes to families and individuals affected by the shutdown. No strings. No spotlight. Just a genuine gesture of care from one neighbor to another.
They’ll handle the baking and throw in a extra dozen of cupcakes! You just help us fill the world with a little more love (and frosting).
Because sometimes, a slice of cake is more than just dessert, it’s hope. 💛

July 21, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

In the sweetest promotion we’ve heard about in quite a while, Cake, Hope and Love has just announced a contest that will give one lucky winner a years worth of cupcakes.  Announced today via Facebook Live, bakery owners Shannon & Mike Teague are challenging Cake Nation to take pictures of themselves all around the region with their new Cake Dealer bumper stickers.

To get one just stop by Cake, Hope and Love, buy a regular priced cupcake and ask for your free CAKEDEALER bumper sticker by next Friday, July 27th.  Then take your sticker to your favorite place in Dayton, and take a selfie with the bumper sticker.   Next post your selfie to facebook or Instagram or both, and be sure to tag your location and  #CHLTakesDayton.

For each picture you post, you get one entry. More pictures- more chances to win!  You’ll also earn bonus points if the bumper sticker is on your car (it doesn’t have to be) and if Shannon sees your car out and about with the sticker on it, she’ll post a picture and if you call and identify it- you’ll win a free celebration cake.

Pictures must be posted by the first weekend of August, at which point a winner will be announced.  The owners will select the winner and you’ll get a dozen cupcakes every month for a year, as well as one six inch celebration cake of your choice.  And stay tuned to CH & L’s social media, as you never know when they might add more chances to win.

Next week the bakery counter will be filled with all kinds of special treats for one of Shannon’s favorite holidays:  Shark ? week!

Cake, Hope & Love – It’s Jawsome To Be Six

July 18, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Cake, Hope and Love, a Beavercreek bakery that specializes in custom designed cakes and gourmet cupcakes, has been so busy they haven’t had time to properly celebrate their sixth birthday, which just passed in May. While business at the Fairfield Road store that is open six days a week (closed Sunday) stays constant, they’ve partnered with  Zombie Dogz on Brown Street so you can pick up their cup cakes there, cater cupcakes for the Dayton Dragons, offer delivery in a unique partnership with Uber,  expanded their offering to add jumbo cupcakes and gourmet doughnuts by the dozen, and if that doesn’t keep them busy enough, they’ve just recently launched their own retail line of sprinkles.

Owner Shannon  Teague shares, “we launched Sprinkled as a way to encourage creativity in home bakers (how I started). Plus, we will begin shipping soon! It’ll be a way for folks that have moved to get a little CH&L wherever they are.”  She says she got the inspirations from her “favorite Things, favorite flavors, favorite memories. Such as Starry Night Mix from Van Gogh.I am an art lover through and through.”

The price is $8 for each 4 oz bag. You can get between 40 – 50 cupcakes lightly sprinkled with each bag.  Down the road, they plan to also have additional bakery items to purchase. Stay tuned.

But back to that 6th anniversary celebration, Cake, Hope & Love will use the upcoming Shark Week, one of Shannon’s favorite promotions to mark the occasion.  Each year the bakery has made this a big deal, with special promotions and over the tops cakes and this year it looks to be even bigger.

Here’s what’s scheduled for Saturday, July 22nd from 11am – 5pm as posted on  Cake, Hope & Love’s Facebook page:

The completely awesome Liftoff Entertainment – DJ & Photo Booth Services folks

ing FIVE folks for this. We will have a single layer cake that you must eat the fastest …. with no hands. Winner gets a $50 gift card from the bakery! First 5 folks that call the bakery with their name and number get the spots!

Cupcake Bar:

Zombie Dogz:
Some of my very favorite people ever are going to be here slinging some pretty amazing dogs! They’ll be open from 2-5 in the lower parking lot of the bakery!

We will be baking up DONUTS, shark week cupcakes, shark cookies, brownies, and dessert cakes for the big red counter!

Mystery Monday For May 1

May 1, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Mystery Monday is back!

We got crazy busy and skipped the month of April, so let’s first take care of some old business. The last picture we posted was of the newly redecorated lobby of Cake, Hope & Love, located at 1490 N. Fairfield Rd. since May of 2011.

Their motto is “to change the world one cupcake at a time.”  And we think they serve up some of the best sweets in the Miami Valley!

Lots of you correctly identified this picture, so we did a random drawing from the correct entries and Lauren Gump of Miamisburg is our winner and we’ve got FREE Rapid Fired Pizza coming your way!

Now who can correctly identify the subject of this picture?  If you know the location of this photo enter it here:  http://goo.gl/forms/dyU55fzc48
We’ll be back next week to tell you more about this photo and tell you our winner!

Zombie Dogz Now Open on Brown Street

November 13, 2016 By Lisa Grigsby

15032310_1441808535833851_7648682607517009699_nAfter much anticipation and several practice nights, the doors at Zombie Dogz  officially open at 1200 Brown Street today at 10am.

They’ll be serving up their gourmet hot dogs seven days a week.  Hours will be:

Monday-Thursday 10:30-11
Friday-Saturday 10:30-midnight
Sunday 10-9

With 12 dogz on the menu and 3 seasonal dogs making special appearances, they’ve even added a  gluten free bun option, diners will have plenty of choices.  Sides include Dr.Pepper baked beans, truffle macaron15016181_1194712637262713_3339948040059206830_oi and cheese and tater tots!

They’ve also partnered with Beavercreek bakery  Cake, Hope & Love to offer an exclusive line of cupcakes with three  flavors (pictured below) you won’t find anywhere else, according CH&L owner Shannon Teague. For many of us this ability to support to awesome local entrepreneurs in one building is great news!

Owners David and Lee VanArtsdalen, with 9 week old Dylan and big brother Dylan have spent the last week hosting friends, family and supporters into the restaurant so they can test the new staff, the set up, learn the registers and get ready for the crowds that will no doubt pack the place.  At one of the preview nights, I commented to them I think their biggest problem is going to be staying below the mandated  occupancy code of 66!  Lee shared that on top of having the new baby and opening the shop, they are moving to a new house this coming weekend as well.

The VanArstdalen’s posted this thank you on their facebook page today:davidlee

“Something I’d also like to mention is all of the local community we’ve pulled in to help build our location. The artists, marketing people, tech peeps, contractors, design group, realtor company ect……. are all a part of helping our restaurant come together and wouldn’t be what it is now without the help of everyone who’s rode this ride with us. We’d just like to give a special thanks to those mentioned that have really made our new location what it is now.”

We wish them all huge success!  And yes, they food truck will still continue to make appearances around town!

Bring All The Cupcakes!

January 6, 2016 By Nikki Nett

chl the buckeyeSo, the best/worst thing just happened to my life.

First, OMG, Cake Hope & Love DELIVERS NOW!

Second, oh no, Cake Hope & Love delivers now.

Cupcakes on demand!

I have been a very vocal supporter of my favorite little bakery ever since they started in their home kitchen. I ordered a cake a few years ago that needed to be “a little sparkly, with maybe some green, and some zebra stripes” and Shannon whipped up the most fabulous birthday cake that any lil 10-year-old has ever seen. From that day on, my obsession with Cake Hope & Love has been unshakeable.

CH&L owners, Shannon & Mike Teague, have developed quite a large following of fans over the past few years, myself obviously included. It’s always great to see what inventive flavors they’ll have on the Big Red Counter, especially on those #treatyoself days (also known as every day). It’s likely that you may have tried their most popular, THE Buckeye (yes, you have to say the THE in front of it) at an area event. I’m personally partial to Queen Frostine with extra Disco Dust, because some cupcakes just NEED sparkle on them. The flavor combinations they come up with are out of this world.

And now, these little magical cupcakes can just appear at your door step like magic. Like freaking magic, I tell you.

After losing my mind over the slightly subtle Facebook post on a random Wednesday afternoon, I immediately sent Shannon a message that was artfully crafted and extremely eloquent asking her for more information so I could write up a little story on it. Okay, it only said, “WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTT?!?!?!?” and luckily she knew what I meant.

I was able to make real words and I asked what prompted this. “This is a test roll out for delivery. If it is successful we hope to expand to after hours delivery and beyond.” said Teague.

AFTER HOURS!? Can you even imagine how long you’ve been missing the ability to have cupcakes delivered to your door whenever you wanted? I can’t even.chl delivery

So, maybe you’ve made it this far and think that the names Shannon & Mike Teague sounded familiar but aren’t making the connection to the cupcakes (hey, it’s possible?). You may know them from New Media Dayton or other area workshops where they have taught their play by play success in social media marketing. So naturally, I had to get a little techy with the next question. Okay, it was basically just, “Hoooowwww?!?!?!”. The beauty is that the tech that makes it all possible is the Uber platform. This keeps the delivery charge low for Greene & Montgomery Counties. Shannon said they are “always looking for new ways to expand the business and we’re excited to use an up and coming on demand service.”. Expand the business? More like expanding our waistlines, amIrite?

I’m sure in the next few days someone somewhere will publish a more detailed article, possibly hitting important information that I skipped because I am just too dang happy that Cake Hope & Love cupcakes will now be available without driving out to their shop in Beavercreek.

I am so happy I could cry…and so will my personal trainer.

Dessert Alert! Sweet Treats Festival Recap

January 30, 2013 By Dayton937 1 Comment

A Beautiful Cake from Kinder’s Kupcakes

It was a dessert lovers playground and a chocoholics dream.  We give you Dayton’s first ever “Sweet Treats Festival.”   Held at The Commander Aero Building in Springboro on Sunday January 27th, the event drew a nice crowd on this winter afternoon. There were confectioners, bakers, chefs and restaurateurs.   In fact over 30 vendors participated in the Sweet Treats Festival.   Every vendor booth had samples set out of various “sweet treat” specialties.   Festival goers could browse each display and sample to their heart’s content.  What a  surprise, the “foodies in their forties,”  The Food Adventures Crew tasted treats from each and every booth.   A few days later, the Food Adventurers are out of their sugar comas and here with a recap of the day’s festivities!

You know the old saying “Like a kid in a candy store?”  Well, here you had us BIG kids in a sweets festival which is a dangerous combination.  Sponsored in part by Dayton Most Metro, the festival featured some amazing displays that would have impressed Willy Wonka.

Junebug’s Cupcakes- deliciously decorated treats

Each vendor booth was set up in a circular setting to allow easy flow of the hungry crowd.  There were some many sweets and such talented people.  Below are the festival vendors and our impressions of each company.

  • 3 Leees Cupcakery – Incredible tasting desserts.  Some choices were vegan and gluten free.  Some of the best tasting cupcakes we tried.
  • Aim To Please Home Cooking – Specializing in various unique flavors of delicious rock candy and more.
  • Amy Cakes & Cookies– Some of the tastiest “cake pops” you will have and delicious cupcakes.
  • Baked – The friendly staff served up some very complex cupcake flavors that blew us away.
  • Cake, Hope & Love – Wonderful “chocolate mustaches” were a hit with the kids.  We loved the gorgeous cupcake display with beautiful toppings.
  • Cheryl & Co. – Turning sugar cookies into works of art.  The staff could not have been nicer.
  • Dee Dee’s Gourmet Peanut Brittle – Generous samples of delicious peanut brittle that seemed to melt in your mouth
  • Edible Arrangments – About as healthy as you can get at this festival.  The chocolate covered apples were a nice twist.
  • ele Cake Co – A Dayton Icon whose chocolate covered cake bites are a perfect gift to get your Valentine drooling.

“Over The Top Productions” had some inventive displays

  • Homemade by Heather– Amazing mini-pies, made just for this festival.  Full sizes on sale for full blown taste!
  • JuneBug’s Cupcakes– Icing decor on these cupcakes were matched by a rich tasting cake.
  • Kilwins – Located at the Greene, this vendor had a huge variety of top notch items including hand dipped caramel/chocolate apples.
  • Kinders Cupcakes – Not only did they have fantastic cupcakes, but their two display cakes were the most gorgeous in the house.
  • LongHorn Steakhouse– Local kitchen chefs have kicked up this restaurant.  They Key Lime cheesecake, apple strudel and chocolate brownies were homemade and not “chain” like.
  • Maria’s Buckeyes– The richest buckeyes ever.  Good eats, nice owner !
  • Moore Dessert Please – Local celebs from “Cupcake Wars” didn’t dissapoint with some mouthwatering cupcake treat.
  • Over The Top Productions–  Arguably the best display of the event. The decor was unique as they specialize in weddings and party events.
  • Sweet By Kristy– Cupcakes with ice cream in the middle. Genius!  One of the most popular items at the event and created a lot of buzz like birthday cake and ice cream all in one.
  • Sweet Eats Bake Shop – Intricately topped cupcakes led to creamy tastes across the board with this baker!
  • Sweet Nothings– Hands down, the best toffee we have ever eaten.  All flavors of the sea salt toffee are addicting!
  • The Rustic Loaf & Patisserie– From the chocolate crunch cake pops, to the cupcakes that looked like royalty.  These bites were eye pleasers and mouth pleasers!

Cupcake Display from “Cake, Hope & Love”

  • Signature Confections– What can you say about chocolate that sometimes takes 3 days to make?  Unique flavors such as Crown Royal, Khalua, Raspberry Guiness, Chai Tea, and Earl Grey Tea.  The painted pieces of chocolate belong in an art museum if they weren’t so tasty.
  • Two Bears Chocolates – They featured homemade caramels dipped in Boston Stoker’s Highlander Grogg Coffee.  the Big Ragu said it was the best flavored caramel he has ever eaten.  We loved the local twist on taste!
  • Winans Fine Chocolate– Some of the best turtle bark in the world.  We found ourselves overstaying our welcome at the sample dish.

Special thanks to The new Austin Landing Kroger for sponsoring the event.  Other sponsors included Tim Horton’s who provided coffee, while Aquafina supplied free bottled water.

All of the desserts were scrumptious, and with each vendor having numerous desserts.   There were over 100 sweet treats to choose from, and we got our taste buds on almost every delicacy.  Your Food Adventurers had some favorites that stood out from the pack.
————————————————————————————————

The handpainted Candies from “Signature Confections” were nothing short of amazing

In our humble opinion, here were our picks:
Food Adventure’s Top 5 Favorite Items:
1) The Hazelnut Pistachio Cupcakes from Baked.  We ate way too many of these !
2) White Chocolate Ginger Pistachio Sea Salt Toffee   from Sweet Nothings.  This incredible treat may be purchased at 2nd Street Market and Ghostlight Coffee
3) The Ice Cream Cupcakes from Sweet by Kristy
4) The Hand Painted Chocolates from Signature Confections
5) Red Velvet Pops from RSVP Sweet Treats
———————————————————————————–
The Big Ragu’s Top 5 Favorite Items:
1) Highlander Grogg Coffee Caramels from Two Bears Chocolates
2) The Baked Apple Strudel with carmel sauce from Longhorn Steakhouse and Chef Bob Medlin
3) Chocolate Carmel Nut Bars from Sweet Eats Bake Shop
4) The Mini-Pecan Pies from Homemade by Heather
5) Hand Pulled Peanut Brittle from Dee Dee’s

————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Highlander Grogg Caramels from “Two Bears Chocolates”

As the festival ended, we were stuffed with confections.  We had starved ourselves the whole day in anticipation for the event, and now we were going to sleep well.  From meeting local culinary masters to tasting their masterpieces, The Sweet Treats Festival was a full blown Food Adventure.  From the rich tastes to the sugar rush, the 3 hour event gave everyone more than enough time to get a feel for the desserts of the Dayton area.
In the end, sweet tooths were satisfied and blood glucose levels were raised.  The festival attendees were introduced to many local bakers and chefs for the first time.  From Hazelnut Pistachio Cupcakes to Chocolate Covered Fruit, this first ever Sweet Treats Festival seems to have a promising future for years to come.
Did you get a chance to visit the Sweet Treats Festival ?  If so, please comment below and tell us your favorite treats!  Also, make sure you browse through the nearly 50 photos below.  The view is simply divine…
