Reba, Roger Daltry, Jim Gaffigan Coming to Fraze

February 2, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

The one-and-only REBA McEntire is returning to Fraze Pavilion on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Her previous performance in 2015 on the Fraze Pavilion stage was a quick sell-out. Don’t miss getting tickets to see this multi-talented singer with 35 No. 1 singles and over 56 million albums sold worldwide. Reba’s 13th consecutive #1 album Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope topped both the Billboard Country and Christian/Gospel charts, bolstering her successful record of 35 No. 1 singles and over 56 million albums sold worldwide. The double-disc collection, released jointly on Nash Icon Records / Capitol Christian Music Group, earned Reba her first GMA Dove Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year and won the 2018 GRAMMY Award for Best Roots Gospel Album.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member has won 15 American Music Awards, 14 ACM Awards, 9 People’s Choice Awards, 6 CMA Awards and 2 Grammy Awards, in addition to other philanthropic and leadership honors. During her 2011 All The Women I Am Tour, Pollstar and Billboard’s Boxscore named Reba the No. 1 female Country touring artist with a combined total of over 9 million tickets sold in her career.

Recently, Kentucky Fried Chicken announced that REBA is the first ever globally-known music superstar to play the role of Colonel Harland Sanders.

The Oklahoma native is an acclaimed actress with 11 movie credits to her name, a lead role on Broadway in Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun and starred in the six-season television sitcom Reba.

Tickets for Reba range from $59 to $139 in advance and GO ON SALE Saturday, February 10th at 10am

Fraze Pavilion is pleased to be one of only 10 venues this summer to welcome Roger Daltrey performing The Who’s “TOMMY” with members of The Who Band and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra on July 2nd.

The performance at Fraze Pavilion will feature full orchestral backing by members of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Daltrey and his band will be showcasing the beloved classics from the 1969 rock opera, including “Pinball Wizard,” “See Me, Feel Me” and more.

Considered one of the seminal albums of the rock canon, last year The Who played all of TOMMY for the first time in 28 years at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of a benefit concert for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Roger performed it in its entirety with his band during his 2011 solo tour. The opportunity to bring an orchestral dynamic to the raw emotion and cathartic impact of the songs that cemented Daltrey’s legacy as a vocal powerhouse adds a compelling dimension to the music’s timelessness.

Daltrey comments, “I’m really looking forward to singing TOMMY, not only with my great backing group, but also some of the finest orchestras in the country. Pete Townshend’s rock music is particularly suited to being embellished by the sounds that an orchestra can add to the band. With the arrangements written by David Campbell, it should make a memorable night of entertainment for all those who love the arts.”

Tickets range from $60 to $120 in advance and GO ON SALE tomorrow, February 3rd at 10am

He’s back and funnier than ever! Jim Gaffigan returns to Fraze Pavilion from his sell-out performance in 2016. Don’t miss out on “The Fixer Upper Tour” on July 27th.  Gaffigan is a three-time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, two-time New York Times best-selling author, Pollstar nominated, top touring performer, and multi-platinum-selling father of five. He is known around the world for his unique brand of humor which largely revolves around fatherhood and his observations on life.

Gaffigan, who is one of the world’s highest grossing stand-up comedians according to Forbes, is currently on his Noble Apeinternational arena and theater comedy tour, with dates in China, Japan, England, Canada, Paris, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, etc. This past January, he premiered his fifth one hour stand up special, Cinco, on Netflix, who also purchased the exclusive rights to Gaffigan’s four other stand-up specials in an unprecedented deal. The album version of Cinco, Gaffigan’s fifth album, became available on June 13th and during that week, Gaffigan had 6 albums in the top 10 comedy albums list on iTunes. Cinco garnered impressive reviews, with A.V. Club calling Jim, “One of our most intelligent observational humorists.”  Tickets range from $45 to $65 in advance and GO ON SALE tomorrow, February 3rd at 10am

Grab your cowboy hat and boots when country music legend Neal McCoy takes the Fraze Pavilion stage on June 24th.  Country singer Neal McCoy has released fifteen studio albums, and has released 34 singles to country radio. In 1993, Neal McCoy broke through with the back-to-back number 1 singles “No Doubt About It” and “Wink” from his platinum-certified album No Doubt About It.

His success continued with two more platinum albums and a gold album, as well as six more Top Ten hits into the late 1990s. A seventh Top Ten hit, the #10 “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On,” came in 2005 from McCoy’s self-released That’s Life.

Music of Your Life, a blend of big band jazz and country with Les Brown, Jr. was recorded for a public television special that appeared in 2011, and a new studio album, XII, arrived in 2012. In 2013 he released Pride: A Tribute to Charley Pride, Neal’s long time friend and mentor. 2015 brought the Big Band Standards CD You Don’t Know Me. Neal has been on 15 USO Tours around the world and continues to say it’s one of the achievements he’s most proud of.

Buddy Guy, Huey Lewis & The News and Brit Floyd Dates Announce

January 29, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

It was big morning of announcements for The Rose Music Center!  Here are the latest additions to the summer schedule for the Huber Heights Ami

Friday, May 11th –  BRIT FLOYD – ECLIPSE WORLD TOUR 2018
45 YEARS OF THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

Tuesday, June 26th – HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

Wednesday, July 11th – BUDDY GUY & JONNY LANG

ABOUT Huey Lewis and The News

Huey Lewis and The News – one of America’s greatest rock & roll bands – will return to Rose . As they enter their 39th year together, their contagious brand of music has outlasted countless trends, and is as fresh today as ever.

Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, Huey Lewis and The News continue to thrill audiences worldwide, selling over 20 million albums in the process, earning them the right to mark their place on the pop history map.

These Grammy Award winners have written and performed such classic Top Ten Hits as “Heart of Rock & Roll”, “Stuck With You”, “I Want A New Drug”, “If This Is It”, “Hip To Be Square” “Do You Believe In Love” and “Workin’ For A Livin”. The group also wrote and performed “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” for the hit film Back To The Future. “The Power of Love”, nominated for an Academy Award, went to #1 on Billboard’s singles chart, and was a smash hit worldwide.

GRAMMY award winning guitarists Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang are teaming up for a not-to-be-missed co-headline show at the Rose  on Wednesday, July 11th.

ABOUT BUDDY GUY:

At age 81, Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues. Buddy Guy has received 7 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

Buddy Guy is a genuine American treasure and one of the final surviving connections to an historic era in the country’s musical evolution.

“I worry a lot about the legacy of Muddy, Wolf, and all the guys who created this stuff,” he says. “I want people to remember them. One of the last things Muddy Waters told me—when I found out how ill he was, I gave him a call and said, ‘I’m on my way to your house.’ And he said, ‘Don’t come out here, I’m doing all right. Just keep the damn blues alive.’ They all told me that if they left here before I did, then everything was going to be on my shoulders. So as long as I’m here, I’m going to do whatever I can to keep it alive.”

ABOUT JONNY LANG

It is hard to believe that at 36 years old Jonny Lang has already had a successful career for two decades. Easier to believe when you learn he released his first platinum record at 15 – an age when many young people are just beginning to play music. Lie to Me revealed a talent that transcended the crop of blues prodigies floating around in the late Nineties. No flashy re-hasher of classic blues licks, even at that early age Lang was a full-blown artist with a style of his own.

What began as a bluesy sound, influenced by electric pioneers like Albert Collins, B. B. King, and Buddy Guy, evolved over those recordings into a modern R&B style closer to Stevie Wonder and contemporary gospel music. Lang’s distinctive, blues-inflected licks appeared on every album, but became one element in a sea of passionately sung and tightly arranged songs.

ABOUT BRIT FLYOD:

Brit Floyd, the world’s greatest Pink Floyd tribute show returns to the stage in 2018 for a very special ’45th Anniversary’ retrospective of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon.

Having sold in excess of 45 million copies and judged by many as the greatest rock album of all time, The Dark Side of the Moon was an ambitious psychedelic masterpiece that redefined rock itself and propelled Pink Floyd and its members to rock immortality.

Each night Brit Floyd will perform classic tracks from The Dark Side of the Moon alongside gems from Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and The Division Bell plus lots more.

The Brit Floyd show has truly become a phenomenon, widely regarded as the world’s greatest live tribute to Pink Floyd. Faithfully recreating the scale and pomp of the final 1994 Division Bell tour, complete with a stunning million dollar light show, large circle screen and arch plus moving lights, lasers, inflatables and theatrics. A Brit Floyd show really is as close as fans will get to experiencing the magnificence of a Pink Floyd show live.

Tickets for all three of these shows at The Rose  will go on sale to the public beginning 11am on Friday, February 2nd atwww.Ticketmaster.com and www.Rosemusiccenter.com. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.

Local talent on display at the 5th Annual WinterFolk Festival

December 20, 2017 By LIbby Ballengee

Although it’s considered “off” season for music festivals, wintertime ones are some of my favorites! We’ve all got cabin fever, and just need to get out of the house and have fun! One of the most highly anticipated of those winter festivals is right around the corner: The 5th annual WinterFolk Festival at Yellow Cab Tavern on Sat, Jan 13th.

It’s a spectacular night of  music, art, food, & fun for all ages. This includes a non-stop line-up of best roots and folk musicians from the tri-state area, including beloved acts The Repeating Arms, Tod Weidner, David Payne, Starving in the Belly of the Whale, Kyleen Downes, The Goldberrys, OldNews, Bloody Tambourine, and several more!

It’s also about this time of year, I’m missing food trucks. Come hungry and catch the Drunken Waffle serving food on-site, along with Yellow Cab Tavern’s craft brews and cocktails. This year’s event has expanded, with even more artisans and vendors selling handmade goods. It’s an all around perfect night out!

How did this event come about? Well, it was inspired by a love of music, of course, and also the venue itself, Yellow Cab Tavern. In its infancy, WinterFolk organizers could see the potential in YCT, starting the festival as a fundraiser, which led to the venue’s recent upgrades. This type of collaboration is sign of a true music community! Make sure you stop on out to support these wonderful folks!

How to Go?

Where: The ‘Old’ Yellow Cab Building (700 E Fourth St. Dayton, Ohio 45402) is located at the corner of Fourth St and Walnut just outside Dayton’s historic Oregon District. Plenty of FREE parking is available on and off street at the event.

Time / Cost: Doors will open at 7pm and the first performance will start promptly at 8pm. Tickets available exclusively at the door for $10, children 12 & under are free.

Electronic Music Spectacular Returns To Masque

November 28, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

Dayton based EDM concert production outfit 3DMentional Entertainment will host their second “Snowed In” party this Saturday, December 2, at Club Masque. The party will feature two floors of local and regional electronic dance music DJs, along with a headlining set from internationally recognized DJ/producer J.Phlip.

Ever since the purchase of a cheap set of belt-drive turntables and a mixer on her 19th birthday, Jessica “J.Phlip” Phillippe really hasn’t looked back and, after completing her studies in Engineering, the straight-A student jumped head first into her true passion, music. She won a DJ competition in 2005, toured the USA and moved from her hometown, Champaign, Illinois, to the birthplace of house music, Chicago. In the Windy City she endured the struggle that many musicians go through on their pathway to glory but never lost sight of her dream.

After a move to San Francisco, Phillippe’s dedication eventually led her to linking up with Claude VonStroke, the founder of one of electronic music’s most prominent record labels, Dirtybird. This connection led her into the world of constant touring and festival slots all around the globe. 2017 alone has seen Phillippe in the biggest music cities in the nation, along with slots at prestigious festivals like HARD Summer, Holy Ship!, Middle Lands, and the Dirtybird Campout.

Dayton is no stranger to Phillippe’s infectious live sets. Her appearance at Therapy Café in February of 2015 brought a stellar crowd that enjoyed every second of distinguished, danceable beats. She mixes a ridiculous remedy of old school and new age house and techno tunes that are nearly impossible not to groove to.

The party will feature music on both levels of Masque. 3DMentional’s last party that featured two levels of sound was without a doubt one of the Dayton’s largest electronic music parties ever. Along with the second level featuring state of the art live sound and technical lighting, the first floor will feature world class LED lighting rigs and a professional visual show that will stimulate the eyes while the ears are serenaded with great music.

Both levels will feature a stellar regiment of local and regional DJs to support Phillippe, all with a different style to help please every electronic music lover that walks through the doors. Featuring everything from house, techno, bass music, breaks, and saxophone laden live electronic music, the evening will be an amazing way to dance off the winter blues from start to finish.

Doors will open at 9pm and tickets for those 18+ can be purchased at the door. Hard copy tickets can be purchased at Club Masque, Clash Dayton, and Shake It Records in Cincinnati for $18. Online tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/SnowedIn2017. VIP and bottle tables can be secured by contacting Billy Dickensheets at [email protected].

Multi-platinum group Bell Biv Devoe — Ricky Bell, Mike Bivins and Ron Devoe — are back with “Run,” the Erick Sermon-produced single that captures the BBD sound with hip hop beats, R&B harmonies and new jack swing. BELL BIC DEVOE has bridged the gap between R&B and hip-hop music with a pop-feel-appeal-to-it for more than 25 years. A direct byproduct of the hugely successful 1980’s vocal quintet “New Edition”, BBD merged the irresistible sounds of hip-hop beats, New Jack Swing and R&B harmonies.

The group’s wildly successful debut album Poison sold 4 million copies and featured 4 classic hits. In addition to the Platinum selling title track, the album featured “Do Me,” “When Will I See You Smile Again,” and “BBD…I Thought It Was Me.”  BBD’s follow up album, WBBD-Bootcity (A Remix LP)  sold over 700,000 units, while the 1993 album Hootie Mack was gold-certified.

Presently Ricky, Mike and Ron are stronger today than ever before. Since the early days with New Edition, BBD has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has won the hearts of millions of fans globally. BET has announced the 2017 premiere of “The New Edition Story,” a 3-part miniseries chronicling the lives and careers of Bell, Bivins and DeVoe and the other New Edition members.  More info on will be announced shortly.

BBD’s many accolades include numerous Grammy® nominations, three American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards, countless “Keys to The City,” as well as an abundance of esteemed salutations for their many humanitarian efforts. Most recently Ricky, Mike and Ron were bestowed (along with Ralph, Bobby & Johnny) with the 2013 Soul Train Music Awards Lifetime Achievement honor. BBD’s extraordinary accomplishments have set them apart from their peers and have cemented them as pioneering icons.

Singer and actor DEMETRIA MCKINNEY will open the show. Tickets start at $42 and go on sale Friday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at Ticket Center Stage, located in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center, by phone at 937-228-3630, toll-free at 888-228-3630 or online at www.ticketcenterstage.com.
