Downtown Steakhouse To Open Friday

June 4, 2025 By Lisa Grigsby

Local entrepreneur Carl Johnson (who currently owns Members Only 937 and previously owned Club Kixx, The Fox and The Arena)  has created an upscale dining spot downtown with TearDrop Steakhouse.  He’s brought in his nephew Chef Jay Jones who runs Celebrity Platinum Catering to run the kitchen.  They’ve been looking for a spot for a couple of years, almost inking a deal with The Greene, before the complexes bankruptcy put that deal on ice.  They looked at the former Table 33 location and then were contacted by Demetrius Wright, the owner of 1Eleven Flavor House when he heard he was looking.  They worked at a deal for the First Street location now they’ve hired 60 employees and been training them to produce steaks so good, you’ll drop a tear when you taste them. All steaks will be served with a tear drop of herb garlic butter, that will melt down your steak upon presentation.

Opening for service this Friday, June 6th, guests are encouraged to call for reservations at (937) 496-5535. There is seating for 96 guests including the bar stools inside and an additional 32 seats will be available once the patio is completed.

Johnson asks for grace from their guests as they open, knowing it will take some time for their staff to learn and perfect their service.  He says, “we’ll learn quickly from any mistakes and quickly correct them, but we have to start serving guests to perfect our service.”

June 4, 2025 By Dayton937

Popeyes® is bringing their signature flavor to summer eats with the launch of an all-new category on their menu: Popeyes® Chicken Wraps. Same legendary Louisiana flavor with a whole new twist. Wrapped, packed and made to move with you. Whether you’re cruising through errands, road tripping or hopping between meetings, Popeyes is bringing their signature crunch that you crave in a grab-and-go style that’s big on flavor and easy on the wallet.

For a limited time only, these generously sized Chicken Wraps, are everything you love about Popeyes, now wrapped and ready to roll at participating restaurants nationwide. Each one is packed with a Popeyes hand-breaded and battered chicken tender, crisp lettuce, shredded cheese, crunchy pickles and topped with your choice of a Classic, Spicy or Honey Mustard spread, all tucked into a soft, warm tortilla inspired by our famous biscuits.

The Chicken Wraps are available in three bold variations, for $3.99* each for a whole lot of flavor without breaking the bank.

And because no snack is complete without a sip to match, Popeyes is also dropping a brand-new beverage lineup of Blueberry Lemonade and Teas, just in time to cool things down for summer. Building on the hype of Popeyes viral Pickle Lemonade, this new berry-infused offering includes Blueberry Lemonade (Chilled or Frozen), Blueberry Cane Sweet Tea and Blueberry Unsweet Tea.

“With our new Chicken Wraps, we’ve taken our iconic chicken tenders and wrapped them in something completely new, bringing all that craveable crunch in a fresh, portable way,” said Chef Amy Alarcon, VP of Culinary Innovation at Popeyes. “We wanted to create a Chicken Wrap that was undeniably Popeyes. Infusing the flavors from our famous biscuit into our wraps was the perfect way to ensure our signature flavors shined through.”

Whether you’re heading out for a long weekend or hustling through the weekday grind, Popeyes Chicken Wraps and Blueberry Beverages are snackable, sippable and summer ready. Starting today, June 2, at participating locations nationwide and on the Popeyes app and website while supplies last, they’re here for a good time, not a long time, so get ’em while they’re hot.

Summer In The Valley 4 Course Wine Dinner

June 2, 2025 By Lisa Grigsby

Carrabba’s Italian Grill is hosting this wine dinner on June 25th at 6:30pm that will make you feel like you’re being transported to summer in the Napa Valley, enjoying a 4 course Italian dinner paired with wines from California’s most iconic wine regions. Reserve your seats now, just $60 per person.

Course 1
SUMMER SHRIMP SALAD
Chilled shrimp, spinach, romaine, tomatoes, red onion, zucchini and strawberries tossed in a lemon-strawberry vinaigrette and topped with ricotta salata

WINE PAIRING: IMAGERY SAUVIGNON BLANC

Every bottle of Imagery wine features original label artwork, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to both artistry and winemaking. The wine’s bright citrus and crisp acidity pair wonderfully with the chilled shrimp, while its tropical fruit notes complement the lemon-strawberry vinaigrette
SUMMER SHRIMP SALAD
Course 2
SPAGHETTI CARBONARA WITH SCALLOPS
Spaghetti tossed in a rich cream sauce with eggs, parmesan and romano cheese, diced tomatoes and bacon topped with wood-grilled sea scallops

WINE PAIRING: MEIOMI PINOT NOIR

The name “Meiomi” is derived from a Native American word meaning “coast,” reflecting the winery’s dedication to sourcing grapes from California’s coastal regions. The wine’s bright berry notes and soft tannins complement the creamy sauce, while its subtle acidity cuts through the richness of the bacon and cheese
SPAGHETTI CARBONARA WITH SCALLOPS
Course 3
PARMESAN CRUSTED SIRLOIN
Our 10oz wood-grilled sirloin with our signature Mr. C’s Grill Baste, olive oil and herbs topped with a golden cheesy parmesan crust. Served with grilled vegetables

WINE PAIRING: JOSH CELLARS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

This Cabernet Sauvignon was the first wine made by Josh Cellars. The wine’s dark berry notes, hints of vanilla, and toasted oak complement the richness of the parmesan crust, while the wood-grilled char on the sirloin enhances the wine’s subtle smokiness
PARMESAN CRUSTED SIRLOIN
Course 4
LIMONCELLO BREAD PUDDING
House-made limoncello and vanilla custard-soaked brioche bread with limoncello syrup and vanilla ice cream

WINE PAIRING: CONUNDRUM RED BLEND

Charles F. Wagner, founder of Caymus Vineyards, would often blend different wines at the dinner table to create unique flavors that complemented their meals. The wine’s ripe berry notes, hints of chocolate, and warm spice provide a balanced counterpoint to the bright citrusy sweetness of the limoncello

Burger King Turns 71 and Celebrates with Deals

June 2, 2025 By Lisa Grigsby

Burger King is turning 71. Originally named Instant Burger King, the chain opened in 1954, a year before the first McDonald’s. A burger and milkshake restaurant, BK’s captured burger lovers’ attention in 1957 when it introduced the Whopper (just 37 cents at the time), still a staple on the menu.

In the decades since, it’s introduced countless other products, including breakfast sandwiches, chicken nuggets, chicken fries, wraps, and so much more to go with its fries, onion rings, and desserts—all designed to satisfy taste buds while traditionally offering value and letting guests “have it your way.”

Burger King is celebrating its birthday by giving away free burgers, mozzarella fries, onion rings, and other menu favorites all month long.  To get a new freebie each day, you must be a member of Burger King’s Royal Perks, its rewards program.
Here’s what you can get:

  • June 4: National Cheese Day means a free order of Mozzarella Fries (4 pc.) with a $1+ purchase for an extra cheesy snack.
  • June 15: To celebrate father figures on their special day, give the gift of a BOGO Whopper, available all Father’s Day long.
  • June 22: For National Onion Ring Day (because this favorite side deserves a day all its own), members can redeem a free order of Onion Rings (any size!).
  • June 1-June 30: Enjoy BOGO Impossible Whoppers all month long.

Mudlick Tap House Is Asking For Support of Downtown Businesses

May 26, 2025 By Guest Contributor

As a local independent restaurant in downtown Dayton, we’ve always taken pride in being part of this community. But this past week—due to the NATO Summit—has been incredibly difficult. Road closures, parking restrictions, and limited access to downtown meant foot traffic disappeared, and like many small businesses around us, we felt the hit.

What made it even harder was the lack of communication and disregard from the City of Dayton. There was little effort to meaningfully include small businesses in the planning or to mitigate the disruption we would face. Decisions were made without us, even though we’ve been showing up for this city every day—paying taxes, employing local workers, and contributing to the culture, economy and vibrancy of the downtown landscape.
IMG_4395
Independent restaurants and shops like ours are part of what makes Dayton special. If you’ve ever shared a meal with us, made memories here, or supported any small downtown businesses—this is the time to show your love. Come downtown. Dine, shop, and help lift up the places that give this city its heartbeat.
Thank you for being part of our story.

Graeter’s Unleashes the Beast Feast!

May 23, 2025 By Lisa Grigsby

Graeter’s Ice Cream has unleashed its latest creation: Beast Feast: Cookie Dough Unleashed.

The limited-time flavor, inspired by Kings Island’s iconic wooden roller coaster, The Beast, debuts today as part of Graeter’s summer Bonus Flavors, the Bake Shop 2025 collection.

The Beast Feast is a thrill ride for your taste buds, featuring monster chunks of sugar cookie dough with colorful rainbow sprinkles swirled into a creamy cookie butter ice cream base.

The flavor is a tribute to the adrenaline-pumping fun of The Beast, which has been thrilling riders since 1979 with its record-breaking 7,361-foot track—more than 1.4 miles long—and a ride time of over four minutes. Kings Island crews recently replaced over 1,600 feet of the coaster’s track, ensuring it remains a legendary experience for years to come.

“This collaboration captures the joy of two Cincinnati icons,” Chip Graeter, fourth-generation owner of Graeter’s Ice Cream said. “It’s cookie dough unleashed, just like the roller coaster itself. You won’t want to miss this one!”

Beast Feast is available for a limited time at Graeter’s scoop shops, by the pint at Graeters.com for nationwide shipping, and by the scoop at Graeter’s location on International Street at Kings Island.

Roadtrip: Taste of Cincinnati

May 23, 2025 By Dayton937

Kicking off the summer season, Taste of Cincinnati takes to the streets of downtown Cincy on May 24-26 in 2025, serving up Italian, creole, vegetarian/vegan, Hawaiian, and Greek dishes and of course Cincy Region favorite – goetta!–and just about everything you can imagine in between.  So bring your appetites and prepare to dig into some of the tastiest treats from the Cincinnati Region. There will be 80 restaurants, food trucks, and Findlay Market vendors, plus an additional 12 beverage vendors including local breweries and wine.

Taste of Cincinnati  is the nation’s longest running food festival, and one of the largest street festivals in the country. There are 3 stages programed with live entertainment all weekend. Check out the lineup here.

Several downtown streets are closed for this event from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23, and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27. Taste of Cincinnati parking is available in several nearby parking garages and parking lots on Third, Fourth, and Sixth Streets are available. Street closures and parking info will be updated throughout the weekend.

The downtown streetcar, Cincinnati Connector, makes a 3.6-mile loop through the city. It can easily connect you to Taste of Cincinnati and it’s free! Cincy Red Bikes has 52 stations between Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with more than 400 bikes available.  Ride sharing with Uber or Lyft is always available–although prices can rise during peak hours of this event. Parking in Northern Kentucky is another option. The Southbank Shuttle, AKA the trolley, serves Bellevue, Covington, Newport, and Cincinnati and runs every 15 minutes. To walk over The Taylor Southgate Bridge from Newport, or the Roebling Bridge from Covington is no more than 1.5 miles to the event.

Check out Taste of Cincinnati’s website, Facebook, or Instagram for the latest updates on parking, road closures, restaurants, entertainment, and other info. Event guides and maps are also available.
